Nice review. I agree with some of the tracks not having massive developments but thought that what Alexandr did do worked like a charm.

Check out his EP 'Altering The Synaptic Controllers' if you want some more unique ufomatka vibes.

Nice job to Cronomi for releasing a new album and keeping it fresh.

With a thunderous explosion, Arby's has fired the first shot with it's new fast food/porn promotion.

With other labels releasing goa trance at a seemingly frenzied pace it's easy to forget about Cronomi.  An average of a release a year is not going to allow the label bigwigs to quit their job at Arby's at any time soon.

That chocolate penis ain't gonna make itself, am I right guys?

And while their brand of goa trance is not usually my favorite (except for M-Run, Portamento, and Erta Ale...those are some of the best goa trance ever!  Wanna fight about it?) they are certainly not afraid to step out of the safe goa comfort zone.  UFOmatka is Ukrainian  Alexandr Yemelyanov who has released several tracks of face melting goa trance that had the masses clamoring for an album release.  And fresh of the night shift Cronomi delivers with his debut album.  And a couple of sammiches and a pack of curly fries.

A few notes...

The opener is a dull dirge that falls flat.  There I said it.  With his track record this was surprising and disappointing.  He makes up for it with The City of Acid Trips and it's liquid fire.  Sliders isn't bad and has a nice climax, but doesn't offer a lot of variety.  Same with Space Chronicles.  Liked it and thought it was decent, but we can get that anywhere.  I liked the Enterprise song the best and thought the closing Voyager was average downtempo goa.

Sure there are tracks that hit harder, but he seems to develop his psychedelic goa rather than hand it to you on a silver platter.  Sometimes that hits and sometimes it misses.  Sometimes he gets lost in the weeds and sometimes it evolves into a very good experience.  He certainly didn't make a straight forward goa album and several tracks seemed to waste valuable minutes getting to where they were going.  In the end it's not a very exciting album and at this point in his career though I would say that his compilation tracks are better than his debut.

I really like the album. It's new goa, but indeed very different from what we know now as new school goa.
It's almost techy goa. Not all tracks have the same quality. That's true.
But I can really dive into this sound and let go.

Admitted, also for me, his compilation tracks are more my thing than the album.
But I had to buy it. It has something special. :)

admittedly, my first few listens of this album i was disappointed but after readjusting my expectations i find it to be quite enjoyable.

a lot of goa can be too intense if i just want to have something on in the background. the screeching assault of noises and non-stop nature all blend together and i feel kind of claustrophobic and anxious after about 20 minutes. goa is great if i want to close my eyes and analyze the complexities but not so much if it's accompanying a task.

but this ufomatka album is really warm and easy to digest as a soundtrack to my life. there is nothing abrasive about it, it makes an effort to be distinctive without being turgid. is music best enjoyed by carefully dissecting each part or are we meant to just feel the vibes? ufomatka has created an album full of good vibes, no thinking needed, just let it ride out. it maintains the goa sensibilities with a refined, less is more approach.

Hah, I'm loving this album, very refereshing sound! :D Interesting how it goes from pretty fast to pretty slow, yet keeps the pace somehow.

Drifting Across The Universe got to be my favorite on here, it has a really nice drive and something strangely funky in it. And I love funky! More bonus points achieved for that splendid psy-chill outro track!

For me the album is very ambivalent at the moment.

The positive thing is, that i really like the fresh sounddesign, the variety of the work with drums and percussion in some tracks, the fx and the quality of the production. And of course the tracks under 140 bpm. Midtempo Goa is not too often nowadays.

The lack for me here are the melodies. There are dont catch me. To make matters worse is the repetition of the melodies and this is boring. :-(

Anyway i think its objective a good album with fresh sound and ideas. :-) Some producers should follow Ufomatka and should more courage to experiment.

This three tracks i like and this are my favorites: 2, 6, 8 :-)

There are no (fluent) melodies, because this album is almost 100% avant garde psychedelic techno ;)

Techno indeed hardly contains melodies, and that my dearest, was the whole point of the album :) ...so you've got it spot on! <3

The "melodic" part is formed in how the mixing is done...and yes, with nowadays productions, this is an album that probably needs o grow on you, because it stands out far diffrent than most of what is released  #cronomistyle

:excl: That is exactly the point of the album - héhé! :) Glad you liked this one...

I love this album! Very refreshing with a modern take on goa thats not full on melodic madness, but indeed as others before me mentioned: carefully engineered psychedelia with high attention to detail. Big ups

You said it, "carefully engineerd" :excl: Happy to hear many people still fall for that approach...and that's the cronomi brand :P...and will stay like that.
We still choose and keep on choosing for the non-obvious artists that stand out in originality, even if it takes some people years to grasp the album - we have time

I think this summerises exactly how I felt when I heard his music the first time  Spot on imo :+1:
