Guest Jon Cocco
Yeah, wasn't "Chi-A.D. - Earth Crossing" supposed to come out like a year ago or something? Was this album ever released? Does anyone know what happened, or if it will get a release sometime this year? I really like Chi-A.D. but the last album they released was Infinitism, which was like two years back and Infinistism was previously released tracks mainly as a compilation of some of their best work. But what ever happened to EARTH CROSSING?
Lemmiwinks
I thought it was released in 02... SMI²LE
Guest DDrum
No it has never been officially released. There circulated a promo on the Internet but Chi apparantly was a victim of the full-on/prog craze. I think an EP with 2 trax from the album has been released though.
seraph
Yes, there was a thread about him when I posted it few months ago and some guy answered me that no one wanted to release that album cause of old school feel to it. I was really shocked and amazed where the trance scene is heading to these days. It lost its spirituality and completely shifted to another dimensions, so, no, John Cocco, there is not going to be that good album. That's why I had to download it cause I had to hear those beautiful trax. You can at least do such favor to Chi-A.D. and at least go and hear his trax in that way... Guest Jon Cocco
Seraph, (and anyone else with ideas on this, thanks for the posts) Hey that is so ashame! I don't understand it, I mean.. the sound of Chi-A.D. has always been the "older" sound of this music, but it has always been very cool stuff. Even Boris's Electronic Universe albums pretty much keep the same "older" feel in his own way, (and those keep getting released) so I don't understand why he keeps producing and no one would release Earth Crossing. It doesn't seem to make much sense. Think about it. Something seems skeptical, like maybe Dave had a contract with the record label or distributer and they didn't like the cut or something strange, and maybe he refused to change it. I wish I knew what REALLY happened. His albums have always been released before. People buy them. So I am curious as to what happened. Does his finished album just sit there and collect dust forever? That just seems pathetic, doesn't it? I'm sure Chi-A.D. has at least several thousand fans, and hundreds at the least, who would most likely buy anything he releases. Chi-A.D. should just find another distributer or label, ya know? Thats what I don't understand. Something is obviously causing this thing not to get released by someone else. Has anyone contacted the site that would distribute this. If you or anyone can post a link, I'd e-mail them, although little good that might do, I'll do it. They should at least sell it somewhere, if even on their own site. I mean, even Britney Spears could do rap and as TERRIBLE as it would probably be, there is always someone who would distribute it if its thought to make money. My point is that Chi-A.D. is established in the scene, right?, they've been around for nearly ten years!, so it makes little sense as to why someone would refuse to release their new album. Its not like it costs that much to market psytrance albums. Fans of such music find it on the web or in stores in certain countries. Just put it on psyshop.com and it will sell, no matter how old school it sounds. I would think what I say makes sense. His previous albums sold many copies for their time in this music I thought. Earth Crossing can't sound that much older than his previous albums, right? Seraph, do you believe Earth Crossing is the best album, or is it more or less like the first two releases of those released by Chi-A.D.? I'm curious what you think and how good it really is. Are there any amazing tracks that usually exist only on comps which have included Chi-A.D.'s, like Exit Eternity, Celestial, Eye am the Eye, etc...? Have you heard the whole albuma and do you know where I can listen to it? I hate to download good music, as I own all their other main albums, plus Infinitism, but I can't find Earth Crossing anywhere. Not even on that Nova Tekk site. Guest Mergi
Nova Tekk went bankrupt... Instead one can find tracks from the supposed album on various compilations before Nova Tekk went bankrupt. CHI-A.D. released a 12" on Ektoplazm Records (www.ektoplazm.com) containing Liquid Neon Sky and Book Of Eden not very long ago.
seraph
Well, John Cocco, I heard whole album cause I had to download. I didn't want to since he is the man I would really like to give my money but I had to do it, just cause of the urge and especially since I heard that no one wants to release it. I am sure too that he might had some minor inconvinience about his music changed. No one with such talent shouldn't compromise for anyone. And, yes, this is his best album for sure...All songs are great, and I mean all and they all have multi layered construction with loads of melodies spread all around. Black Light, Book Of Eden, Liquid Neon Sky and Hammerhead being my favourite ones, they all rock. It sounds like an album he should released it back then 97 - 00, but how unfortunate not to release it at all. I was wondering why Out Of Orion didn't continue to release his albums after Infinitism cause they started the label for some old school output. I don't know what happend to the guy but he obviously got turned off and quit making music for some time since nothing happend after 01 - 02 when he released those few singles from upcoming Earth Crossing that year...Shame ! Guest Dr. Krelm
Here is a link to what the guy who released the 12" single for "Liquid Neon Sky" wrote about it. I don't get the impression that it is the lack of a label wanting to work with them (Ektoplasm seemed more than willing). It sounds more like Chi-AD didn't want to release the album if sales wouldn't be good (gauged by the 12" sales), and also a distributor might not want to pick up the release even if a label printed it. http://www.onewayltd.com/psyforums/read.ph...i=74410&t=74410 Buy 100 copies of the vinyl single for "Liquid Neon Sky" and maybe you'll see the album. seraph
Phew ! I really thought that something strange is happening. At least to know that nothing inhuman is going on. Well, no wonder no one is bying his music in this period where new trance artists come every day...Most of them making pure bull shit. I feel sorry cause there is no space for respected artists and their music. Now, I feel bad for downloading his album but I simply had to hear it since I was waiting since 2002...Hehe...Nice to hear some kind of good news although it is bad that no one is bying it... Guest grahf
argh, this sucks, my friends and i abso-fucking-lutely love the liquid neon sky EP. I'd buy a cd full of trance of that caliber in an instant, no joke. Guess I'm in the minority, eh...
Guest Jon Cocco
Seraph, Hey, well I'd really like to hear this album. I can't believe its been over two years since I've waited and after a while I began to lose hope of ever hearing it. Anyway, can you inform me where this album may be available to download, maybe where you heard it? Is there a specific site or KaZaA or something? I don't know where to find it and I'm really curious to hear it. thanks JC
seraph
Hey JC, I downloaded from Soulseek - www.slsknet.org...But you need to share some music there to be able to download. When you listen to the album, rite me an email about your feedback...
Guest Jon Cocco
Hey Seraph, is there a way I can login without paying? This information about a 5 dollar fee or donation keeps coming up and I just want to create a user-name and password. Is there anyway to avoid paying just to download this one album, if even it is still available? I keep going to this page at the link below... https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr hopefully that link didn't get cut off, anyway,... any ideas around this thing or is it a pay-only site even if you just want to see whats available? If I don't need to pay, can you inform me how to get a password and user name and make it to where I can to a search for songs. I have music on my cpu that I'd be willing to share. seraph
No, you don't need to pay anything. It was very simple thing when I was downloading. I can't remember now but you should ignore that pat thing and just keep going wherever it takes you...Hope to have luck for the next time... Guest Jon Cocco
Seraph, Ahh, well I searched the site and registered in the forums so I could maybe get some answers. I posted under my name "Jon Cocco," asking how we "share" music. I posted in the Electronica forums. Someone must have put my thread in another forum (maybe a general questions/answers section which I can't find, or deleted it, because I can't find my new topic/thread anymore. Is there anyway you check the site and see if you can figure out where to go or how you downloaded it the first time? Maybe the site changed or I'm missing something. Is there some way um... I figure, it never hurts to ask.. but, yea.... is there any way on this planet that you could send me a burnt CD of Earth Crossing from the tracks you obtained? Yea.. I know that sounds a little crazy to ask. I would be willing to send you any album burnt in return, and I own about 25 new ones in the last 6 months, plus I'm getting Four Carry Nuts album in the next two weeks, which is fucking crazy, melodic, intricate, cool, inventive sounding. I'll post the link to psyshops samples right below this letter. But I don't wanna sound desperate to hear tEarth Crossing but I am totally curious, ya know. Anyway, I'm not expecting a yes with that one, hehe, but I just so want to listen to this album and I can't seem to figure out that site, like where to download/share. If you have any ideas, catch ya whenever!, JC Check this out anyone, everyone: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/aur/aur1cd004.html I also just heard samples of Atmos's new album, but it sounds so freekin repetitive and uninteresting. Then again, I never "got" what was so good about Headcleaner, although I did REALLY like one or two tracks on their first album, I thought it was too laid back and unexciting, energetic sounding, and VERY repetitive. Basilisk
Hi there everyone... I'm still selling the Liquid Neon Sky EP on a private basis, but the label is indefinatly on hold (I wouldn't say "dead" though)... so anything said about releasing the album in that other thread is long out-of-date. I sure learned a lot from printing up that 12". Nearly 150 records sold, but the rest are still boxed and waiting... probably forever, as all avenues of distribution were unfruitful. The inability to get distribution is what really made printing any more records an impossibility. Here's the multifaceted problem from the industry perspective: - Goa trance "doesn't sell" - vinyl "doesn't sell" - the music was already readily available in mp3 everywhere psy is pirated These are some of the concerns the distributors had. I strongly disagree with the first point, have slowly acquiesced to the reality of the second, and have grown to be mournfully resigned to the last one. To put things in perspective, let me explain my personal motivations for doing this project... The idea for the record was originally generated by some email exchanges between me and the band - I had, in fact, contacted them about their album, asking when it was to be released... then I heard the full story about how Nova-Tekk didn't think it would sell and had no near-term plans to release it. I was shocked and appalled - and offered to help out. I was like many of you, a fan of quality music, seeing a style I love (the uplifting and euphoric sounds of old school Goa trance) getting pushed to the side as the industry dictated the new trends we should all unthinkingly embrace. I was a fiery vinyl defender, appreciative of the inate collectable aspects of the medium that turns music into something for the ages... which is a good fit for what I consider to be "timeless" music. And even knowing of the MP3s out there, I took the gamble, because I believed in this music... still do but I'm out of funds to continue supporting it with record releases. Anyway... the EP with two tracks from the album is still for sale, and you are free to contact me through my web site (www.ektoplazm.com) or by email (try orders[AT]ektoplazm.com). I also put them up on eBay from time to time. I'll be speaking with the group soon and will relay any new information I discover about forthcoming releases, tours, or anything else which may be of interest to fans. Peace. Guest Jon Cocco
basilisk, Wow, well I suppose some information is better than none. Here is one thing I feel like I must ask. Simply put, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Chi-A.D.'s - Earth Crossing, is copyrighted. It is bar coded, the sleeve is complete and the albums are in whatever quantity, probably sealed as if they were to sell but were held for some reason. If you have it in your power to contact Dave, or who ever else has authority in and around this group. Can you PLEASE see if fans of Chi - A.D.'s music can buy/order his albums on their own (do they have their own, or your...) site? I figure it only makes sense to sell your album, or independently distribute it to popular psy/goatrance order/buy sites, such as www.PSYSHOP.com, which is where I buy most of thse types of albums. I really enjoy Chi-A.D.'s music very much and would much rather own this in my collection than find it anywhere for free with less quality or broken up in EP's, singles, etc... Please if you will and if its in your power, your contact, please find out and post back. I would greatly appreciate it and I believe whats most important is the people who buy Earth Crossing, (and anything else by Chi-A.D.) be the ones that love and support the group/artist/music, you see what I mean. I would very much like to order a copy of Earth Crossing on CD. It would mean a lot to me to have it, and other fans and listeners could buy it right off the site. Just a side, yet relative topic I felt like adding: I made a professional, dark comedy album back in 2000. We had to sell it independently and on our own site because record labels found it too controversal; they wanted me to make changes and tone certain "material" down, remove some tracks, and pay to have a bigger production (some tracks weren't in sterio, it was a low budget, yet insanely crazy comedy CD, which took 3 years of writing, altering, and mixing to complete and make every track super good and original) ... Anyway, I refused to make changes and the "Freedom Of Speech - F. the People" album was never released publically or officially, but yet it was bar coded, copyrighted, sleeved, etc... I had dozens of copies and ended up just giving them out to people where we performed at colleges and parties, so I know some things about the business, so to speak. But CHI - A.D. is different, their music is known by thousands and loved or really liked by just as much! I hope something can be communicated about obtaining a copy of Earth Crossing on CD. I so want to listen to this!!! Please see what you can do, talk to Chi-A.D. Hell, show them this site page! It isn't the first and it very well might not be the last. There are people all over the world who have been looking forward to buying new releases by Chi- A.D, and Earth Crossing. Hopefully the rights aren't twisted up in some legal despute with the record label. The music and sound of Chi-A.D. is great, and these are some of the last people who create real, true goatrance to date, with feeling and passion, and its beautiful, cool, and important to make available some how! Hope to here from you Sincerely, Jon Cocco
Basilisk
I'll look into it but I'm fairly certain Earth Crossing was never printed up - only the demo/promo got around, and so it goes. Indeed with the powers of the internet artists can free themselves, but on the flipside of that coin it takes time and knowledge... I think that some artists would just like to spend their time making the music and leave the rest to someone else. When I speak to them I'll see if they've thought of it... tho it may be a little while before I hear back peace.
Guest Richard Jalakas a.k.a. M_
It's so depressing to hear this. I thought he was all gone after I heard "LNS" at the GOA-HEAD 15. I couldn´t find anything about what had happend to him. But now I read this. It's an awful thing it didn't come out. With skills and talent like Dave, he really deserves more luck than this. I think we should start some supportclub that can bring his music to the shops or something. As I said, he really deserves more than this with the magical sound of his. His music lives! Peace to all of you!
