RTP
Hello people Psynews is already around for a long time and we already have two compilations in the name of this forum afaik ... but it has not yet occurred to me that we have a Psynews track!! There was a VERY honorable attempt by some of our members to create one: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/53712-the-psynews-track ... but this was damn 10 YEARS AGO!!! And the outcome is GONE from the net ... all links dead. So, can we make a second try? We have a number of very talented psy music creators on this forum here. I am sure you can do something, don't you think? I offer my contribution (or rather Skeletone's contribution - more precisely, I'd ask my mate if we together want to so something on the track ) aswell if we need some more ppl for it. But let's see who's with the idea. Anyone? PS: anyone's got the old files?
Padmapani
if we can get some people to commit to this idea, i'd glady contribute something. at least sharing big files should be easier now than it was for the last attempt
mudpeople
I helped a little back on the first one, always wondered what happened... (I was alleycat back then) I'd be willing to give it another try, I'm definitely a more capable musician now than I was then
astralprojection
i dont know what i could introduce to the track, but regardless i would love to see it happening again. would be really amazing theres tons of skillful musicians on here so it would be an amazing thing. recursion loop
Don't pretend to be a "real producer" but I know a thing or two about DAWs, synths, music production and theory. Here are my attempts if someone is interested So if this really happens I don't mind contributing something.
astralprojection
Stop that, that's just silly. you're most certainly a Real producer and a fine one at that.
recursion loop
I mean I don't have big name label releases, a cool looking FB fanpage and all that
Multi-Media
What is a "real producer" (definition?), only one with huge FB,Insta etc., pages and one signed with a big label? I am not real too for sure How much do you guys work on music btw.? And how long does it take to complete a song (or track?)

Reminds me of Goa trance a bit But seriously, good sounds, you should put it out. Submit it to labels at least.. It's at least as good as anything out there, and better than most.

RTP
So I thought about this a little, but I have to say that there's not that much to offer at the moment from my side. Haven't been in the studio with my mate since months - and now they're moving out of it anyway. Have to get a production environment going ... then I can contribute. My level is this right now ... made this track out of building blocks myself ... not really a great thing skill-wise, it was just made by patching together building blocks - and no mastering: I got a better one lying around, but I have to see if I still have the files - it won't be good without any files... Veracohr
I’d pitch in a contribution. I haven’t completed any music in a long time & I’ve always had trouble with inspiration, but contributing a part seems just right!

recursion loop
I can add some genuine fullon cheese, think Electro Sun, Intersys, Indra etc. Always wanted to do something in that vein, just needed a proper excuse

Veracohr
Here's something I started several years ago and never got anywhere with. I don't know if there's anything worthwhile there but it's the best offering I have right now. The linked ZIP file has a standard MIDI file, a WAV file of the audio below, a WAV file with one of the tracks that isn't in the MIDI file, and a text file. http://www.veracohr.com/Psynews_Track_(Veracohr_Basic).mp3 http://www.veracohr.com/Psynews_Track_(Veracohr_Basic).zip Edited September 6, 2020 by Veracohr Renamed linked files

To add some competitive edge to it . Kinda funny browsing through that forum, seeing artists who are now released on several labels, beeing very eager back then to get some recognition. If it could inspire some potential new hidden talent out there then why not? YES there is the plan to revive the contest - I was busy with the rules till recently ... will see, maybe we can launch this... 2 minutes ago, Padmapani said: links are not working (and if i type it into the browser it automatically starts a search because of the spaces. then if i replace them with %20 and try to downnload it stops loading at 55K. Huh, it worked for me ... I just copypasted the link text. Browser: Firefox Listened to it. It's cool stuff so far - instant idea: Take @Veracohr 's track, enrich it with @Psychedelic Superbeast 's melody number 3 from the first video (the one that starts at 0:39 ... you might have to adapt the tonal relation though so that it matches) ... and the whole thing might develop into something more goatrancey in the progress of the track, ideas for that are still missing in my head though... I need to get a Cubase (I only can work with Cubase, we used it for Skeletone - but my mate is decomissioning the sudio and takes the Cubase dongle with him, it's his) to be able to participate in this (which I'd be up to) ... and I need to go for a legal one. I'll see what I can afford ... have to get an audio system first ... one after the other
Padmapani
3 hours ago, Psychedelic Superbeast said: What kind of track shoul it be? Goa or Fullon? Or in between? the things posted up to now suggest goa trance. if we do down that route i could contribute some melodies played with oldschool sounding patches, atmospheres or 909 hatlines. if we go the fullon/psytrance route i could contribute something for every purpose (from knb over percussion, melodies and sweeps to semi-modular fx) but wouldn't want to do the arrangement. so i guess it's time to decide on the style, bpm and key of the track. unless anyone has any objections, i'd suggest 145 and F because 145 is neither particularly fast nor slow fitting almost any style, and F is easy to play and sits right in the sweep spot where the low end sounds best on most systems. i also think we need something like a shared dropbox folder where everyone can access all midis and audio files plus add their own input.
