Hi all,

Psytrance and psychedelic music seems to insulate itself against politics which i think is great and really fantastic

:+1:two thumbs up:+1:

But what albums or compilation are out there that have some reference to (or can be interpreted even slightly) as political?

Any politics from any country or any 'political' thesis underscoring it would be fine. Even if it's just a description saying the proceeds go towards the overthrowing of the Belarus government or Tulsi Gabbards political compaign.

More on the progressive trance side of things, with just a hint of psy: Haldolium - Glw Drk album has several political-themed tracks, including 'End of a Government' and 'Moral Convictions'.

The front cover also says "Benefit Tibet", and on the back of the front cover the story says:
"In 1950 China invaded Tibet. The Tibetans have calculated that 1,2 million have died as a result of the Chinese take-over. In 1959 the Dalai Lama was forced to flee his home and now travels the world gathering support for his people. The Tibetans believe in a non-violent struggle for freedom. The deserve all the help they can get. 50% of the profit of this CD will go to the Tibetan people, who lost everything, even basic things like homes, clothes, food and medication. You will help to prevent one of the oldest cultures of the world from disappearing."

A similar but a bit longer text can be found on Banco de Gaia's album Last Train To Lhasa (both the original, and the 20th anniversary edition), so in a way that album could belong here too.

Do Alex Jones vocals count as politics? If you can check out this project I'm working on :D Truth be told, I did wonder if someone would somehow interpret the vocals in the wrong way, you never know these days. Message is NOT intended to be political, in case I need to mention that..

Are we only talking psytrance? I have a great album in mind but it's hip hop.

In my personal clear memory this album https://www.discogs.com/Vegetal-Free-Thinkers-Are-Dangerous/release/687649 was the first and it made quite the discussion

Later you have this, but how political is it according to the OT: https://www.discogs.com/Dark-Whisper-Spirit-Of-An-Age/release/3942774

Thanks for the responses all,

I think Vegetal - Free Thinkers, Dark Whisper - Spirit of an Age & Xenomorph - Demagoguery of the Obscurants are the most overtly political when taking into account samples and track titles.

Ummm, I believe this one is among few that got strong political subjects as well featured in track names or the artwork (see Discogs images). Oh and line-up got some really outstanding names featured: Xenomorph, Parasense, Neuromotor, to name a few. In general, Russian and Greek labels had in mid '00s some neato compilations, especially if you dig more darker psytrance music.

Yep, that's a truly good video you did there and I appreciate to watch it again.
It takes some skill to make the subject come to life without letting it drift off and I think you are doing that very well :+1:

cheers
