Guest Darvin
www.area709.com is a new site based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The mixes on our site focus on psytrance, but range greatly. We are a collective of passionate people who want to create a bubble of creative energy online. We are slowly gathering members from across North America, and are now beginning to focus on the visual arts aspect of our site. If anyone knows of anyone who might be interested in having their portfolio on the site it would be free for them other than covering their own server space and bandwidth (about $18/month). We are looking for artists that have a passion for electronica, and who are professional, productive, friendly and talented. There is no limit to the medium of their creative expression, so anything goes right now! area709 is also an emerging production collective, our first two events have been extremely successful and very well recieved (reviews and video footage are on the site). We are pushing the envelope here in Alberta by re-establishing the art-party experience. Already on our team we have one of the best projection visualists in Alberta, Byron Pope, and the legendary talent behind the Team Psyence decore Darren Schweitzer. Our goal when we host an event is to offer those who attend a chance to see really stunning art and visuals as well as hear intelligent, beautiful music. Anyone with any ideas feel free to post them in this thread, or thoughts of who we might contact. Our site this month will be at 100,000 hits already and it is only barely 2 months old so we know we are onto something!
Guest Darvin
I forgot to mention that artists featured at our events would be brought in for the event. That is obvious for performers, but that applies to painters or other mediums of expression as well as their art. As well our events are not limited to calgary, we have an event forming in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in February 2005. We have limited numbers of slots, and we are going to be picky!!!
