Guest Wamphyri
Oh... I can't believe how this powerful genre has changed... Is this MUSIC? It is only a lot of noises amalgamated and any melody anywhere. I only have one question.... Some "really" new Goatrance music??? I have listened "Update files" by Total Eclipse and they have nothing to do about what they were before... Thank you P.S.: I can't believe Goatrance have died.... Guest vasyachkin
what i dont like is that psytrance is not evolving fast enough. the last innovative albums were Pleiadians - Family Of Light Psysex - Hardcore Blastoff X-Dream - Irritant everythign else is just variations on the same themes, AT BEST, and i want them to do somethign new and different already. Guest Kristian
Goatrance is psychedelic trance with melodies so modern psychedelic trance with no melodies and only noises isn't what I call evolution. But sure, I might agree that Psydrop and Fractal Glider is an evolved sound of Goa... Anyhow, there was a thread here just recently concerning this subject: http://www.psynews.org/forums/read.php?f=6...i=94321&t=94321
Guest DDrum
Music doesn't evolve. it usually gets worse overtime... Black Sabbath laughs at the pathetic attempts of Linkin Park...
Guest Mike D
hehe yeah Linkin Park do suck but then again they sell more so of course they get record deals... check out Misted Puppet, pretty nice melodies... also check out tranceformrecords, specifically Ethereal and Ypsilon 5... Electric universe's new album is pretty melodic for full on style, like Space Tribe minus the crappy samples... other than tha, I think you'll be pretty hard pressed to find any really good goa trance, despite the efforts of a minor few, goa is being well and truly killed ( just visit the place like I did in December, party's just suck compared to 5-6 years ago!!) Guest Outs!der
Maybe you have evolved, and the music didn't.

Tatsu
Try the new Electric Universe album. It has some kind of Goa touch on it. Much better than the album bevore, less progressive and with more melodies. Just my 2 cents...
Guest Jon Cocco
Goatrance has not entirely died, but the old classic sound has been left alone to go down in history as classic and I agree that psytrance seems to not have close to the energy or "melodic rhythm" (in general) than some albums of goatrance... This current psytrance stuff doesn't seem to have evolved goatrance as much as it has CHANGED to less melodies, different styles with occasional innovations, (while also having twisty sounds that come and go) and yes, even great melodies and rhythm exist in some psytrance albums (like Four Carry Nuts and Electronic Universe's newer album) but the style will never be the old one most of us loved. Those two albums I just mentioned by the way are very melodic and interesting to listen to.... but, Most artitsts, like Astral Projection for example, who used to make some AWESOME goatrance (Kabalah anyone?) have changed their style to compensate (unfortunately) for "whats new" or more popular or to make more money regardless. Of course, of classic creators for their times, Astral Projection is one of the biggest disappointments because their new stuff doesn't come close to how great and beautiful their old goatrance stuff was. But some psytrance stuff has maintained with whats "catchy" melodic-wise, while others have ditched the clever imaginative melodic stuff to go make $$$ on the normal club scene music because those people will eat it up just because of its silly noisy sounds, its cheap and easy to dance to especially when you are doing to some artists voice that you can relate to. (think of all the club mixes by Madonna and even Britney Spears...?! I'm getting off topic a little bit but its the sad truth. Much of that club music isn't even psytrance, its just fucking house techno, or typical club trance, which won't trance you in any way, yet they call it "trance" because it sounds "newer" and more evolved than techno... when most of the electronic music at general clubs really isn't either techno or trance if you think about it. Its fucking CRAP but even that word isn't accurate, I wish it was. Hell, people will dance to rap and hiphop in most clubs. Its pretty pathetic but they think thats cool because they're unaware of the "real stuff." So where am I going with the point about psytrance and goatrance. WEll, like rock music and even some rap, things improve or change in order to sound new so they don't sound dated. But although almost all old rap seems embarressing to listen to and it sounds outdated or cheesy because it is, the old GOA sound has gained more lavish and appreciated with age; with time. I listen to my goa music from 7 or 8 years ago and it sounds better than most of the new stuff in the psytrance scene, but psytrance has some awesome stuff too, and lets not forget that there were many old goa albums that sucked too... I don't really care for much with the noises and sounds either. I seem to complain about the fact that psytrance seems to lack the melodies (in general) that goatrance once had. I miss those epic melodies, layers of sounds and such. I am tired of the twisted, squeeky noises and I believe that we need a real CHANGE or INNOVATION in style and sound because most psytrance albums are sounding too similar. I like melodies and layers of rhythm while being catchy. That is why Electronic Universe is still so popular I suppose. But to say this music hasn't evolved or has evolved... its just different. If there was never any Goatrance, then how'd there be psytrance??? It had to start somewhere.
Guest DT
Ethereal just released an album in dec. This is about as goa as your gonna get for new releases.
Guest FrozenRealm
Hmm well.. I'm rather 'new' to the psy scene.. started to listen Goa/psy 3 years ago and I still don't get why that many people complain that much!? The vibe at the parties here never changed and the music still makes me smile and dance my ass off on the dancefloor. The only thing is that I don't really like the Minimal stuff that came out since 2000, but if it's dark/eerie then it's better to hear that at home in the night or something. Full On (and morning?) is getting quite popular and it's way cool to hear great stuff like Space Buddha, Electric Universe, Suria and Protoculture stuff thrown at the dancefloors! Why complain if there is still much to get? so many different good artists, just go and search... you'll surely find some new stuff that will twist your brain! (and stop longing for 'the old goa'... its greaaaaat music but it ain't comming back that way! enjoy the oldskool, hail the new stuff!) Guest RTP
Goa is not dead. It just has developed itself from the oldschool style to a full new form of electronic music. Of course this might not be everyone's favourite, but you can't reverse the expanding of an universe...
Guest Vishnu
i gree with RTP . goa evolved! and in my oppinion now the old goa-trance melodies, madness and feelings starts to combine with the new full on power technology ! the best example of this new style is the misted muppet ! i just hope there will be more artists like these ones and hopefully bring back the spirit of true goa-trance BooM Shankar ! Guest thomasz
it 's true it has been evolving but for the old feeling try 'The Misted Muppet' or 'The great unknown' from Koxbox!!!
