hi guys,

as I'm not the most experienced dj out in the universe I would like to ask for some tipps. I got a booking in a few weeks for a party starting my set at 2 am. I have a good collection of new stuff, so I'm quite confident to find the right tracks throughout the night.

what I'm asking myself the whole time is how to start my set. can you guys out there give me a good recommendation for a good working tune to get the crowd when starting a set?

last time when I dropped in more later (4am) I started with exaile - radio edit and it worked sooooooooooooo well. but at 2 am i think this would be too early.

thx for your comments...

Start with some tracks with a little less hype... or do the surprising thing, start with Psycraft - Electric Charge, and then continue with some nice kinda relaxing tracks with groove (still with rollingbass, maybe some Atomic Pulse), and then start building up the wildness of your set. :)

i recently fell in love with

Lux - Altered States

but i'm not quite sure if u can call that full-on

it would fit to the beginning of a set though imo

well, have no experience with that. just give it a listen ;)

Altom-- Groove Control is a great track to start a set with.

My advice after learning this very lesson a few times over: Bump it u a notch or two from the dj beofre you for a track, but no more than two, then bring it down to where you really want to build from. If you start too deep you will loose a bunch of folks, and if you just try to one-up the person before you you may find yourself gong hard but not really achieving much else.

Just my thoughts!

I always like to start with either somehting with nice samples, or something fun and maybe abit cheesey.

This usually catched people attention, and they want to see what this you sound is...

I find Mr Peculiars - "40,000 Substances" orks well with great dum sampling from Led Zepplin...
