we are the balance

not too long ago i heared someone say that we(the psy folks) are the balance for this crazy world and that we keep it from going totaly nuts and being destroyed.(he found psychedelics to be a key ingredient for this balance, but thats just a detail)

in the last two months i met many people, psy folks and "normal people". these normal people were people who were born in poverty(romania you know) and still are quite poor, but they actually make a diference:

a guy who is a botanist in a natural parc here, where nothing is done for protection.he just got the job and allready made a project to protect several endangered species. he also told me about his plans for the fututre, how he is strugling with authorities who dont care about nature.

a girl who is growing orchids(native romanian orchids, very few left in nature) in her apartment(he has no space for a tv or table because of the plants) so that she can replant them in the wild.she also found a tiny kitten who had no hair, was starving, had all its ankles twisted, and saved it, went with it to the doctor paying out of her own pocket-lots of money

a 40 year old who printed thousands of flyers in his home and distributed them in few cities here, in order to draw attention that Ukraine is trying to build a navigation channel threw the danube delta(which would basicly destroy it)

i also met lots of people who really love the psychedelic-tra music and smoke pot non-stop, drop tonns of acid in order to save the world

what im trying to say is that psyfolks talk all day about peace, love, unity, respect, nature, harmony, ignorant people, the bad system and so on, but it seems to me that they only care about going to a festival and getting so zonked out that the music becomes a "divine" pink noise

i havent seen anything done by psyfolks in order to actually make a diference(except the psy-forum meet at the irak protest).they are a kind of hippys, just that hippys made few protests which actually impressed the masses, and might have had an effect after all.

i think the hippy movement broke down because they finally realised that thier

peace love unity respect,

was actually a dream, which they had abandoned long before the movement broke down, a dream of freedom which they replaced with acid dreams

at least they woke up in the end. i wonder whats going to happend to psytrance?

i think the psytrance scene is not about peace love unity and respect anymore, but it has transformed into a supermarket run by drug-cartels, where organisers make noncomercial partys for peace, hand in hand with people who earn millions and shoot those who know too much. a place where artists turn a blind eye on the madness, so that they can take their 5000E salary home, a madness where people burn their brains in order to fight the system and see god.im sad cause i have to say this but the divine has left psytrance long ago, and it was replaced by disorienting visions of the devil disguised as an angel.

have you noticed the brain on a hook-the cover of infected mushrooms album? converting vegetarians, looks like there are people who try to bring the psychedelic-tra music back to psy-trance music

and now a quote :

u tend to tune in and drop out

please share your ideas on this, any post is highliy apreciated

Hi,

First of all, when any form of music that is being appriciated by a small number of people evolves into a bigger "scene", the thoughts behind it gets lost along the way. You can compare the phenomenon with basically any other genre of music - jazz, soul, hiphop, rock for instance.

That is what we are facing here, the same process. Psy trance has been underground for as long as it has existed, and in my opinion, it still is. Its a genre which is disregarded in the major music industry because even though it has attracted quite a lot of people by now, it is nowhere near (in numbers) the crowd that listens to - for example - hiphop.

But true, the whole essence of trance has changed. When I started going to parties about ten years ago it was with no doubt very different.

Still, its a very subjective thing. If you choose to concider a trance party as a religious experience, or if you attend it too meet chicks, show off your latest clothes, eat pills and get wasted - is entierly up to you, and your expeience is based upon how you chose to observe it.

To me, $hiva is still the boss, and I enjoy being able to witness and take part of an evoution in music that has so greatly become a big part of my life.

Hepp!

Yeah and I'd like to add that the kind of music you listen to doesn't necessarily define your type of person. It's not because you listen to psychedelic trance that you're an hippy who always talks about peace, love and respect. I know some people who really love psychedelic trance and the only things they talk about are drugs, alcohols, chicks, and the next psy party that is coming...

"i also met lots of people who really love the psychedelic-tra music and smoke pot non-stop, drop tonns of acid in order to save the world"

Ah ha ha... so true.

Mind you that's true of all hippies. They love to travel and talk and talk and protest and smoke pot and go to concerts and collect unemployment insurance so they can travel some more (and maybe go to a protest) and smoke more dope and bitch and protest and so on and so on. (Hey, it's a good life if you can live it and don't mind being a dirty hippy I guess.)

Problem is, it's all talk. They don't do anything. They don't add anything of value to society. They don't do invaluable work or make useful products or come up with brilliant practically usuable ideas (and making bead jewelry or selling used books out of a van doesn't count as invaluable work).

Basically hippies are a huge drain on society. They don't do anything and spend all their time wasting their time or protesting against anyone who is actually out there doing something (i.e. working, making a living, using resources *gasp*). But the funny part is they think they are the saviours of everything.

Basically Dennis. I couldn't agree with you more. But there's really no point being mad about it. I just chuckle and get on with my life. Somewhere down the road I'll be somewhere and all the hippies I've met will still be hippies and we'll both be happy about it.

Well, i'm not an hippy but i don't agree with khogg:

they live life their own way without disturbing the others, and usually they don't do bad things. Besides, they often inform other people about bad things goin on in the society/world, which can be considered enough compared to people who don't do nothing at all.

Of course the behaviour of some of them can be disturbing i.e. only getting stoned and ask for money believing they're always right, but they're not all like this, and those who just travel the world and have fun going to parties, in my opinion are not the ones to blame for what's going on. Maybe sooner or later they'll get an inspiration to do something..

Just my opinion.

Bye!
