CosmicEquilibrium Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Trying to make a Goa Trance track while learning about Cockos Reaper and music production tell me your opinion, specially about the bass... Thanks Quote
acid being Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Seems good so far. The bass arrangement is really nice. Bass sound is OK. The melodies have a good sound. Not sure if they are a tiny bit fast but that is most likely just my taste. Would need to hear how the track develops to really know. Effects and percussion are really good. Quote
CosmicEquilibrium Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Thanks, I'm making some improvements Some Goa Nonsense Quote
astralprojection Posted yesterday at 02:20 PM Posted yesterday at 02:20 PM Sounds like straight butt. Since noone seems to be telling you your music is ass I will take this responsibility. Sounds like ass! 😀There's no redeeming qualities neither unfortunately, tbh. Well the hihats sounds pretty clean. Start over and try again. Also, why do you post your music online when it sounds like crap. Reminds me of me back then. I used to do that very same mistake some 20 years ago. Even here I posted it, on another username.. I wish someone told me then it was shit.. It would've helped me alot. So hopefully this will be of some help. It's trash. Go again. Peace ✌️ Quote
Azétris Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Oh come on, that's a bit rude @astralprojection! There are kinder ways to express what you just wrote... Nothing wrong with posting music online (even "bad" one) to receive constructive feedback So that's what I'll try to do! Sure the track is very repetitive and the structure are very simple, but I think it's on purpose in order to better test reaper so that's not an issue here There are some parts that are way emptier than others, though maybe once again it was to test reaper in different auditory environments? I think the atypical tonality you used is supposed to be more mysterious / dark compared to most Goa Trance? Then you'll need to add more atmosphere and FXs, and of the unsettling kind if that was what you intended your track to sound The high-pitched 303 doesn't have enough modulation to my taste The bass doesn't really work imo, I would either use a more typical Goa Trance bass or add modulation to bright out its acidity! I would make the kick louder (no need to turn into a Nitzho-producer like me though :p) and increase its basses and the snare more... powerful. Not necessarily loud, just powerful if you see what I mean. It shouldn't be too loud compared to the kick. And the kick should be louder than the tambs I would add more variation to the tamb pattern And little reminded that musical taste is subjective and most people probably dislike Psytrance in the first place 😛 Quote
CosmicEquilibrium Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago eheheh it's a valid opinion but you are comparing my music with what artists just to know? I have the notion that the track don't have a story structure and needs a lot of work but there are some positive points sounds clean at least, in my opinion is not that bad you are pushing too hard. CosmicEquilibrium Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Opinions are having a common point, I guess jc303 aren't just working well, maybe is better do the bass with synth1, the pattern is very repetitive but the melody sound good imo I just need to do some variations, synth1 is a great synth it sounds very clean and have some depth texture, reaper is fine it have nice effects for mixing and mastering I just need more skill. I want to do an creative goa trance an original oldschool vibe from the 90's, I don't want to use vital or serum for now, I not wanting to achieve a track all pumped up, I trying to do something simpler and natural now. CosmicEquilibrium Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I will try to improve the track and work on it a bit more then I will share here, to see if I'm moving forward. 1 Quote
