Guest X-tul
If you have other noise than clicks and cracks, only background noise, try the Noise Reduction in soundforge (Tools--->Noise Reduction). Select a part in the sound where only background noise is present. This part may be very small and should only contain the frequency spectrum you want to eliminate. Then click on the Get button in the Noise Reduction window. This makes a spectrum analysis of the selected noise part, and you can remove that part from the entire original sound in the frequency domain. Noise Reduction may be included in Soundforge 5 for free, I don't know. Try out different parameter settings. Settings for good results depend on the nature of the original sound.
