What soundcard should I get?

I have a little question..

I want to buy a new soundcard to have some better sound and to get Reaktor working ( ASIO and my onboard soundsystem don't like eachother and weird enough when I try 'soundcard' it gives me only two midi-out ports...ah well)

You can figure out I'm getting quite sick of this as an artist and as a human being.

I need some advice on a soundcard, about 75-150$

I'd rather have a cheap one which just gives great sound, than an expensive one with @!#$ I never use... ( + I need a midi-keyboard)

I dont think you'll find a very good one maybe other than soundblaster for 75 to 150 dollars, not that i know of atleast. Check www.m-audio.com they got a bunch of good quality sound cards and midi interfacing. I just got my Delta 1010, hehe... i'm excited. Goodluck.

Midiman AudioPhile is about 170 pounds. I think it is the cheapest pro sound card you can get. You will also get a free version of Logic and Gigasampler with it.

While it may be that Mac's are better at music and graphic applications than PC's.. there is quite simply alot more software available for PC's than Mac's.. even music software..

As far as soundcard recommendations go, it's slightly above your price range, but I can highly suggest the Echo Mia.. it has balanced inputs/outputs, which the audiophile does not have (also the audiophile does not have inputs/outputs on 1/4" jacks, which gives a better signal quality).. this may not really matter to you now, but if you intend to upgrade you studio in the future, you can attach your nice new bi-amplified monitors (such as the beautiful Event 20/20bas, which I also highly suggest) balanced with zero noise and zero hum.. as far as the lack of inputs goes, who cares, buy a decent behringer or spirit mixer and you have all the inputs you need, with much better realtime control than you do with some silly mixer application window on your screen.. and I dunno, but since when has anyone here recorded 4 parts at the same time? this may be good for rock but not for psy..

and if you want it has digital in/out on coaxial SPDIF, so you can send to your MD/External CDR/ADAT..

As far as sound quality goes nominally, it's the same as an Audiophile (or Creamware Luna, other M-Audio cards, etc.. they all use the same Motorola DSP) but it's connections that really make a difference IMO.. and the Audiophile's RCA jacks don't really cut it to me..

Dynamic range is negligable... 106db A-Weighted for Mia.. 104db A-Weighted for Audiophile.. but this is under ideal conditions..

I'm not a big fan of the Audiophile, although it does have onboard MIDI.. but this is both a blessing and a curse.. it's really best to have a seperate device for both audio and midi.. SO much audio information is already transmitted through the PCI bus, if you have a card that has both audio and midi on board I think there will be problems occasionally..

My ideal suggestion would be an Echo Mia and a Midiman Midisport 2x2 USB..
