Guest Jonas Josefsson
I'm using Cubase and I want to make those glides with the notes that you can hear and create so easy with the 303. You just push the glide button... Is there a way to do that with Cubase without having to use pitch-bend or to make it easy with pitch-bend. Because when I do it sometimes the pitch doesn't go back to it's normal value. And I don't want to do it on the synth, cause then all notes will get glided to their pitch and I just want single notes... Hope you understand what I'm reaching for. I admit I gave a little messy description but hey! =) /Jonas
Guest Slidingtrancer
I understand what you mean and I can do it in Rebirth, Reason or anything else, just not cubase sorry....
Guest OA
Use the portamento setting on your synth.
Guest Psylent Buddhi
It depends on the sequencer. Using the portamento setting isn't enough if you want to replicate that nice 303ish "slide to note" function. I don't use Cubase, so I can't really say if it has that feature or not, but I'm guessing there is a way to do it with Cubase.

Guest Jonas Josefsson
So what do I do then? Do I play the part back in slow speed and turn up the portamento where I want the slide to be and then I turn it back to let the after coming notes play as regular? Well, I can always try myself next time im in Cubase... =) /Jonas
Guest TAo-loomchild
Hi I jsut remember that bram Boss (the guy who created hammerhead and tuareg) had developped some times ago a proggy called "Pump". This is a midi sequencer baed analog machines seq method(303/909 like). I dun exactly remember if this one permitted 303 glide. If it does , it is worth checking out. U can found the proggy at http://www.maz-sound.com/ in misc utils section. Furthermore, it is freeware ! ) So u just create ur sequence on this and export it to cubase. /TAo/-=Loomchild=-
Guest psychopat
Hi Jonas ! just a little precision on portamento. There are several portamento/solo modes in modern synths. For example in the MC505 you can set the portamento to be ON when two consecutive notes overlappes and to be OFF when you have distinct notes. This could be very usefull to "glide" some notes in a riff without editing MIDI events list to put ON/OFF the portamento with RPN or NRPN (a pain !). Just check your synth manual with keywords: portamento, solo, legato If you still want to use pitch bend. you can edit the event list to add a true 0 value at the end of your bend. pitch bend is coded over 14 bits in the corresponding MIDI message so a value of 0x2000 (hex) or 8192 (dec) should make your synth going back to the correct tune. hope this helps, psychoPat. Guest rauri
Grab 'seq303' a program that generates midi slides that emulate the 303 pitch glide. Simple, sweet and awesome... i use it quite a bit. rauri.
