Guest Zen
The Cd writer isn't a problem i think.... just don't buy the most expensive (waste of money), and not the cheapest either.. Compare writers .. don't listen to what people on the forum suggest in total blindness. the only significant differences between writers are their Speed.... not that they draw some sort of "better quality".. it's the CD-R's wich you buy who shows quality! So i suggest u buy something like 8/4 writespin is good.. and check it got a fairly good normal Spin too, so you can use it for other purposes too, and not only writing! Shouldn't be too expensive! As for motherboardz.... try go into a GOOD computerstore and ask them! they could show you the ropes wish you well on your journey!

Guest akindo
Plextor produce some of the best CD-R writers. Also good ones are Teac and Yamaha.

Guest Zhoro
I have the TDK Velo 24X10X40. Very happy with it - burns a CD in about 4 min.
Guest Mike Indidginus
I'm with Akindo - I've got a Plextor 16/10/40 and it's superb. No complaints from me
