Guest Bruno
Hey all, How are you? I'm posting here to ask all of you some help. I've been listening to eletronic music for quite a while now - 5 years or so, and ALWAYS loved it. I've listened to many styles, and have many favorites and some that I really DONT like. My favorite type of music is a kinda Morning - Progressive Trance. DJ Tiesto, Yahel, Some cheese... don't hate me please! lol I think that I want to give music producing a try, but I know NOTHING about it. Only really simple stuff every trance head knows Mom says I have a nice ear for music - lol - I played piano when I was real young, so I am not completely "music-ignorant". How could I start? I wanna start with software, since it's really cheaper than hardware. I know that hardware has much more quality and powerful synths, but money talks All help is appreciated! Names of programs? Places to read about music producing (specially trance)? Tutorials? Anything! Thank you very much in advance! Take care, Bruno

Guest Bruno
Thanks for all feedback! I'll get fruit loops ASAP! Any opinions on rebirth? I used their trial a couple times. Some sounds came out of it, but nothing really listenable! lol Anyway... thanks again! I'll let you all know how this journey goes! Take care all of you, Bruno
Guest Ehsanti Brahman
Well I guess I am in your leauge......I've been loving psychedelia ever since I heard Astral Projection with "Black or White" and recently I've started making some electronic music (I've been playing bass and el.guitar for some time). Rebirth was great when I tried it some years ago but as an advancing newbie I needed something more. So I bought myself a Roland MC-505 to really get an introduction to handling these types of instruments (pls dont laugh). And alongside,I played around with Fruity Loops which I found very user-friendly and suitable for my learning stage. Now I have got Reason and I am extremely thrilled. Its pretty much a standalone program but there is so much you can do with it. I've been making some serious music with Reason and I haven't touched my Groovebox or Fruityloops or Rebirth since then. And now I am trying to learn Cubase which I think is suitable for the next level in my learning process. Rebirth is simple compared to all the mentioned programs. basically synth and drummachine. But as I've recently found out, you can route it to Reason so you can tweak some nice sounds out of the retrosynths alongside with Reason. My suggestion to you is to play with Rebirth, just to get a sence of it and then try Fruity Looops or just start with Reason. Its not that difficult and there are always ppl that can help plus manuals, tutorials etc. But play with Rebirth....I tried when I was 100% newbie, now I am maybe 70% newbie :-) And hopefully you will be making serious music in the future. You have to be patient and believe in yourself and have genuine interest. That is the only way to be good. Money is alos an issue, but IMHO a secondary one. Good luck! Regards,Eshanti Brahman (now I could need somebody to help me with Cubase.........oh well) :-))
