Guest Slidingtrancer
Hmm I'm struggling with something. I'm gonna buy a midi-keyboard, the one off Midiman, Oxygen8, but thats not my problem. Would it be wise to also buy an Yamaha AN1-X occasion for 200$ with it? Is it possible to use the Oxygen8 as a masterkeyboard then.... and can I use the AN1-X to make nice sounds ( not per se psychedelisc, I'll make them psychedelic myself)... Would you consider 400$ a good price for a AN1-x and an Oxygen8 ? Anyone who can enlight me, please drop me a mai or leave ur message here
shpongled
Doesn't AN1-X has a keyboard? If it has then you won't need another midi keyboard.
Guest Slidingtrancer
Yeah, thats why I'm kinda puzzled, because the AN1-x is a nice synth, but controlling everything is kinda important as well... hmmm... any other views on this subject? I'm losing it...
Guest Elysium Project
You can easily use the An1 - X as the midi keyboard too...It has indeed keys :-)) If you also want the Oxygen8 you can use the yamaha as it is. It has very nice sounds. 400$ is indeed a nice price...
Guest etherdesign
$400 is a pretty good price for an AN1X alone, and yeah, you can just use the AN1X as a tone module of course.. don't see why you'd want to though as it has everything the Oxygen 8 has plus the keyboard is 4-5 octaves not just 2.. and the knobs on the AN1X are assignable to send CCs to your VST plugins or whatever, just like Oxygen 8.. Guest Slidingtrancer
Hmm ok... so its worth the buy?
Guest Slidingtrancer
The Oxygen8 is about 200$ and the AN1x is about $400... Is the 200$ worth the buy....? I can also get a SH101 for 300$, but that doesn't have any midi in and out, but is ultimately cool of course. But I dont think I will buy it, I don't wanna imitate the 'oldschool' sound or something, I want to make psychedelic music closer to worldmusic, good trance and techno.... not the minimal stuff either. Basically I wanna do my own thing and by buying the SH101 I will sound like 1000 others I think... Everyone has heard the sounds once now... Guest Elysium Project
Well If you can get your hands on a SH-101 with midi build in...yes they do excist - then buy it..... it is the perfect little machine for sub basses / basses and squeeky sounds....:-) but do not buy it without midi......you wont be able to use it the right way... Guest Elysium Project
Buy the An1x and forget about the Oxygen8... you do not need 2 keyboards.....The Yamaha is all you need both as a midi keyboard and synth.
Guest Elysium Project
3rd... wow too many posts... I used the SH101 (mostly for accustic sounding basses and subbassses) on my last album "Celestial Sounds & Tribal Beats"... The album is very much a ethno/tribal CD with many ambient atmospheres.... Guest Slidingtrancer
Thnx elysium, maybe an idea to put all the comments in ONE post Or you just must like seeing your name appear on the screen too much I'll go and ask whether the SH101 MIDI built-in... well if its not, how much extra will that cost me ? What do I need...? ANyway, the AN1x seems a nice buy, but it IS occasion and maybe I'll miss out on the software you get when you buy the original then.... Hmmm, its hard choosing these things when you have NO technical background.
Guest Elysium Project
I know slider but sometimes i am too fast on my fingers and forget a message :-)) Nothing to do with narsisism :-)) I do not know how much it will cost you extra to build in the midi... you should not try to do it yourself :-)) If it's not allready build in ... then forget it... I do not think that the AN1x come with any software... as far as I know...... What do you mean by occasion??? Do you mean that it is a used synth?? Yeah it can be hard to choose... My suggestion is always to first try to define what you want the synth to be able to do and thehn try out as many as possible before you make up your mind... this way you will not be dissapointed when you buy the synth.... oh yea a good peece of advice... always make sure that the synth that you are checking out is not connected to anything like a effect machine ect... always try it out dry so you will get the right sound picture..... Guest Slidingtrancer
used synth yez ... I have troubles with choosing as I have not quit defined my thing within psytrance. It's hard to buy something... but things that sound great to me are the Access Virus ( all models) and the Nordlead 2... but those are too damn expensive.. The SH101 looks nice, but then I only have a basssynth...
Guest Elysium Project
Well go for the An1x then it is a great synth with many things for you to to discover :-) Just notice that it can be a little bit hard to understand the way you program it.. especially if you are new to it. Just make sure you get the manual when you buy it... Anyway most synths will be hard to understand at first :-))
shpongled
I read somewhere that AN1X has a free software editor program which makes editing much easier... you can see meny parameters on computer screen instead of going thru millions of submenus on the little screen on synth. Guest Elysium Project
I do not think that there is such a editor for the AN1x... It sound like the same feature as on the Clavia Nordmodular..... anyway you can see all about the AN1x here and even get a taste of what it sound like.... http://www.yamahasynth.com/pro/an1x Do not think that this is all the machine can do.... it's only a demo...... By teh way check out the first orion album .... He used the AN1x a lot on that album....
shpongled
Hmm.. found these... for PC... http://www.yamahasynth.com/down/an1x/s_an1xed.htm for Mac... http://www.yamahasynth.com/down/an1x/s_vised.htm
Guest Slidingtrancer
You can't deny it anymore now Elysium. Damn I wish some of you lived more nearby and could tutor me in MIDI and technical issues... Its hard to figure out by yourself, lacking the time to really dig into it... ( I study alot )
Guest Elysium Project
Deny what?? I never said I knew if it had a editor... just said I doubted it :-) Lol... you need to use much more time to get into it.... otherwise you will never get the hang of it... Guest Slidingtrancer
I know I know, but study is taking up SO much time Well, I hope during the coming holidays I will have some time to really get the hang of whatever I'm buying but I doubt it. It really sucks as music is my great passion
