Guest Que Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 I guess it's no secret that samples coming from AKAI libraries are extensively used in psy tracks.. I should say that I can clearly identify a fair amount of the coolest FX/beats/etc as belonging to classical AKAI collections.. Hence a Q to musicians: what do you think is the most frequently used AKAI sample lib in the scene? My "top 2" would be: 1. Heart of Asia (by Spectrasonics), used by/in: Shpongle (lots of tracks.. vocals, etc.. the chinese chanting from "Divine Moments of Truth" comes from here), can't remember any other specific occurences, but I'm sure that like 50% of asian/indian singing I've heard in (not only) psy tracks comes from this collection; 2. Distorted Reality (by Spectrasonics), used in LOTS of tracks, here's what just comes to my mind: Wizzy Noise - Twisted Love (all FX/voice samples in this track come from the Distorted Reality collection, almost unprocessed , 3.Turn - By any Means Necessary, Human Blue - Protonica (beginning), Zerotonine - Acid Theatre (female voice), Vibrasphere - Echo Plantation (the "frenzy" loop showing up in some places), Method of Oria (from the Download comp.. the ringmod loop), Jaia - After the Rain (the same ringmod loop, sounds great!), X-Dream's remix to "Internal Code Error" by Saafi Bros. (the "frenzy" loop again!), and many many more Peace. Quote
shpongled Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Orion - Metamorpheus album also uses Dist. Reality 2. Quote
Guest Cujo Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 well, , to be honest. samples cd's are made to be used :-) unfortunatly , too many psy people use the same ones, whenever i hear a track, i can nearly 50% of the times, hear a sample i know from a sample cd.. not very cool!. especially this one: COOKOOLAND. used, by nearly ALL!
