Guest antic
MS Office is a good advice, I think Ok, sorry! There was a lot of threads about it already - try Cubase, Reason, Fruity Loops, Rebirth and maybe some trackers (MadTracker, Buzz, Psycle are very good to start)... Looks like lots of hard work and great fun ahead of you!
Guest Mike Indidginus
See below Dude (Strumpling's thread is the most recent I think). Failing that, as Antic points out, Excel is a great sequencer...
Guest Ez Hi
I dont use this, but i heared Texas Faggot uses Orion Pro. You can download trial version of it for free. It looked ok, but it just didnt suit me.
Guest aonia
I can't believe you guys haven't heard of Outlook Express...the best way to start.. seriously, you should try Fruity Loops(not so good imo, but great for initiation,), and certainly Buzz(its free and is great for developing good skills-I use it with pride) Also ReBirth, Acid Pro+loops, happy composing
Guest Taika-Kim
Dream Station is nice $69 software that has both sample playback and "analog modelling" capabilities. It's a very good program to start with, and it's cheap. Recommended especially for people who are already familiar with trackers, as it has a pretty standard tracker-like sequencer. Check out my music made almost exclusively with it: http://avp.greywolves.org/umpimahka.php Buzz is a good advanced move, and some beginners like it too. To me it seems a bit too much for someone that has no experience at all with music software.
Guest Andreas of Amygdala
I'm quite content with Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Pro - another Cubase/Logic-clone. It's fairly stable (if you know how to get around the few bugs, that is...), and it's so easy to use - and I think it provides a better overview than Logic and Cubase... But the audio manipulation? Forget it... For that, I use soundForge, and then import the waves to Orchestrator.
Guest Ibotenic
Aodix is the only way to fly.
Guest hogus
Cubase+Reaktor is the best core software setup I've found for psytrance. I suppose you could do Orion+Reaktor/Logic+Reaktor/Floops+Reaktor, ... actually... you might have noticed Reaktor is the important bit here... Any decent VST host will do to sequence it though. A decent midi controller is also useful... + other assorted bits and pieces... Forget about spending money on anything else like food... get some good topsoil somehwere, start your own vegetable garden... maybe steal a cow for milk. Turn your bathroom into a chicken pen.... Guest Lunarsea
start by learning to write Techno as this teaches you the basics of drum programing and dont try to cram to much info into your head at once ,start by knowing your drums and work from there ! GOOD LUCK
