Guest Cujo
OK, i just moved, and im setting up my studio. I just checked ALL channels on my mixer , they all work. When I send midi to my sampler, no sound comes out, I checked the cables, everything is ok????? If I turn it up REALLY LOUD, I can hear it weak in the back? What can this be? Some kinda power problem to the sampler? (this is not just the sampler, I tried to connect it to all the other synths???? The synths on the “left” side of my mixer is working. The synths on the right side??? That’s where there is no sound. Although I can see on the synth that it receives the midi notes? WHAT TO DO? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /C
Guest psychopat
Just few suggestions, questions.... 1- Do you check the sound on an amplified system or with headphones plugged into the mixer? (might be a connection problem between mixer and amplifier, i.e. only the left mixer output correctly connected, so synth is ok on left and nok on rigth. sampler issue? well, maybe another problem. 2- Try to plug the headphones on the sampler headphones out. sound? stereo? 3- Do you have sub-groups on your mixer? Does the sampler outs are routed to one of them? 4- does MIDI pan centered and mixer Pan hard left + hard right on the 2 sampler channels? 5- perhaps you have to select in the sampler menu the ouputs used for each MIDI channel (if multiple outputs). 6- mute buttons on the mixer? ;-)
Guest Elysium Project
It sound to me that you have a output connection problem from your sampler to your mixer - not from your mixer to your amplifier as psychopat says (if that was the case you would not be able to hear anything from your mixer). Try to rewire with new cables from your sampler to your mixer.
Guest Cujo
Hey, well, actually the sugestion with the headphones directly to the sampler was a good one, didn't try that yet. but else i have tried EVERYTHING. subgroups, gain, volume, faders, midi, pan, eq, everything. there is no sound when i send midi into the sampler. i can see that it receives the midi. then i tried to move the midi to another instrument .still no sound then i tried to take the sound coming from some of the gear that was already working, into the same channel on the mixer, voila m,, sound comes out. weird. anyway, you can see my studio here. www.cujorius.dk look under studio, it's an ok studio size i think ;-) (it's my toys when im off work) now, tried everything you mentioned... nothing works! the midi channel goes correct. the sound out of the sampler, is correct. the mixer is proberly connected. everything. Guest Elysium Project
well it seem to me that it's a mixer issue then. Have you ever cleaned your in/output's on your mixer? :-) The channel(s) that your sampler outputs are going into might have a lose wire or need to be cleaned. (dust can do a lot of damage to your mixer out/input's). Have you tried to connect the output's from your sampler to the other side of your mixer? Another suggestion is to try and pull everything down again (yes I know it's a lot of work) and start all over again - in many cases it is the right solution. remember midi is a very unstable and sometime complex thing. You say that you can hear a little sound when you trun the volume all the way up... that indicate to me that it is a mixer issue......and it also prove that the sound is actually getting in to the mixer from your sampler.....check everything on your mixer again! such as mute's ect. Guest Cujo
well, i haven't tried to connect the sampler to the other side of the mixer, but i have tried to connect something from the other side , to the channel where the sampler is. and that works???? it's really weird, maybe i outta take the whole thing down and do it again. @!#$ man, we had a messy apartment for a whole week, when i set it up last time... ..ARG! well, im offf work next tuesday and my wife ain't home, then ok., :-) but it sounds odd right? the mixer channel works, i checked that. then i thought it was the sampler. but it's not just the sampler. it's everything on the right side of the mixer?????????????? Guest etherdesign
Sounds like maybe the output jack(s) on the sampler have become loose from the solder on the inside.. this happened on my korg prophecy.. if all else fails have a look see, as long as it's not still under warranty.. it'll probably be a pain in the ass to get to the jacks, then you gotta disconnect everything and remember where the ribbon cables go (write it down) and re-solder the jacks.. Guest Cujo
ok ok,,,, I say nothing. but i found the flaw. @!#$, i mso embarrased. ok, there is also a VOLUME KNOB on the sampler?????? i remember i turned them all down when i moved the gear.. @!#$... :-) HAHAHA;, and i thought something serious was wrong. well ok, thanx for your kind help , all of you! :-)
