Guest entity Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 I have a mini disk recorder. It has an optical IN but no optical OUT. Only analog Does a DAT have optical or digital IN and OUT? Is it worth investing in one? Quote
Guest cemsez Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 I know that in some minidisc recorders there is optical in and out...commonly there is only optical in...Im not sure about DAT, but I suppose that the optical in connection depends on the model like in minidisc recorders... Quote
bomble Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 DAT has a higher sampling rate and lower compression than minidisc, which is good for the really intricate stuff ... but for many purposes minidisc is the easiest option. I don't know about connections - I think that's dependent on the model bomble Quote
Guest pollywick Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 Most common potable Sony models-have Digital in and Digital out. There is a Sony portable TCD-100 ?? not sure that will also defeat SCM-way forwards !! Quote
Guest Reece Posted January 22, 2002 Posted January 22, 2002 most, if not all, component style MD's have optical outputs. hehehehe, but they're not really portable.... Quote
Guest neomenia Posted January 26, 2002 Posted January 26, 2002 hey bomble, DAT don't compress, unless u use the LP (if have it) record mode (32 KHz). and yes, depends on model, but most DAT recorders use only the AES/EBU digital in/out. : } Quote
