Guest Mike D
This is my basic hardware for my studio, to start with: 1. Pc Pentium 4, 1.7 ghz, 40 meg hard drive, dunno what sound card yet. 2. Novation Drum Station 3. Roland MC-505 4. Midman Oxygen 8 most likely. Soft synth: reaktor, rebirth, fruityloop(already have it), reason and recycle. also cubase, will get the latsest version. will be 2.5 months til pc is payed off, then 1.5 for novation 3-4 for mc 505 and 1-2 for midi then will get softsynths :-)
soem aeld
Sounds nice... But why buy a drummachine too? I mean, you can make drums with Reason, the MC505 and Battery (softsdrum machine from NI).. ect ect Why don't you buy a synth instead? Guest Mike D
Yeah I guess, but what synth?? I really like the layout of the 505 and don't like keyboards at all, so what wou;d yo recomend?? I am hoping to go more for the Infected/Dark Soho/Cosma/Psycraft sounds, and also M.O.S when I feel a bit darker!

Guest jakemyth
Mike...evrything changes when u buy a nice keyboard, u can pick up a roland jp 8000 synth key version for around AUS$1500 i would get that instead of a 505...there are much better VA's around but i think it would b an awesome start for any studio. It will also have all the sounds u would b after. check it out. JP, soundcard, monitors, controller, comp setup, u will b rokn in no time!! Guest hogus
In my opinion I'd rather set up my software side first... Reaktor + Cubase is a kickass combination with a decent midi-controller. There are a lot of psy-trance producers out there using Reaktor for up to 70% of what they're doing. Talamasca for instance is a big user of Reaktor. But you definitely want to have a midi-cotroller keyboard to go with it... The more knobs it has that are routed as MIDI controller signals the better. Then I'd get good monitors... there's nothing that wears you out and inhibits your creativity as much as crappy monitors. And then once you have the cash for it a really kick ass synth for psytrance... such as the Q... I've heard such powerful sounds produced on the Q specifically for psy-trance, I wouldn't recommend anything else above it.
Guest phin
Software machines whenever possible! especially with a 1.4 gig Pentium for 200$ you can build a virtual studio that SURPASSES (BY FAR!) hardware think about this:: I bought a JP-8080 for $1000 US I made a Clone of it in Reaktor - Reaktor cost $350 right now in reaktor, I have something like 700 synths, machines, samplers, etc software's the way to go bro
