Guest Mike D
Ok, I am heading out today, in a bout 10 minutes, to a store reccomened by me to take a look at the following, which is kinda what I am eventually looking at: Clavia -Nord Lead 2 Novation Drum Station/Rack Novation Bass Station Effects: Digitech - Studio Quad Behringer Intelligate. I rang up the shop and spoke to a dude there, he wants me to come in and he'll run me through some demos and stuff... He told me the Nordlead 3 is kinda new and he doesn't know if it is a good buy yet, he thinks that to begin with the Nordlead 2 would be a wiser incestment if it is definitely what I am looking for :-)

Guest mk-11
i think you do not realise how dear the nord 3 is mike try $5000....you could set yourself up a little studio for that.... i would say he is talking about manny's as they have all of this gear...save ya cash and practice on software first and put ya cash towards a set of monitors.. Guest mk-11
if i could go through and buy my gear again i would go 1: computer 2: monitor speakers 3: then hardware
Guest Mike D
Computer is already nearly payed off and yeah, after going into the hsop I have kinda re0thuoght things money wise and am going with a suggestion from another mate here who has hisi own mini studio: Computer is payed off with a good sound set up by mid-end April purchase a second hand roland mc-505 from a reliable source if this all goes down well with some soft synths and cubase then I will concentrate on getting a nice eyboard for $1000+. The stuffin my first list is all great but I would rather start small and then go big than start big and realise this is not entirely for me. I have played with a mc-505 a few times and really like it, it is fun and yu can come with some nice stuff on it, maybe not that great for psytrance but it is nice for housey-breaks stuff and drum n bass. Guest jakemyth
One thing I have found Mike is if u can afford to buy top quality gear..than do! I know it may seem like a lot now but then u will have less equipment probs and all u have to worry about is learning how to use it.That is the best way i believe to get started. I agree with MK11 on this....software set up, monitors, soundcards etc. good luck D!
Guest Reece
seriously rethink your 505 choice man, do u really wanna pay that much cash for a glorified toy??? i know they seem fun and easy to use, but once you actually buy one, get it home and have a serious play on it, the novelty will soon wear off. - you will want to upgrade!!! plus any sounds u make on it can easily be created on a software alternative i know most of Dark Nebula's early stuff was created on a 505, but once he started getting released (ie: cash) he got himself a nice Q rack. and why bother with drum and bass stations??? the drum station is simply a 909. hehehe, and rebirth is free! my 2 cents
Guest etherdesign
I also agree with the above.. nice computer.. software.. soundcard.. monitors.. then synths and mixers.. don't be abashed to looking in the classifieds at sonicstate.. alot of good stuff there.. if you're only interested in midi stuff a juno 106 is a good way to go and you can pick one up for 300-400 dollars.. great pseudo analog (it has DCO's, not VCO's like a true analog).. it can produce some amazing basses and it a great key to learn synthesis on.. for the money you spend on those peices you could buy a juno 106, sh101, esi32 sampler and a midi-cv converter plus still have money left to but some effects pedals.. or get a waldorf micro q kb.. I don't see any reason why you would need a drum station.. it is a 909 clone and for psy you will often need more than a 909 clone.. the bassdrum is good, but the cymbals are all samples and not adjustable to the point of non-recognition from a 909.. you're better off with a good sampler and good sound editng software or effects.. there's thousands of free percussion samples on the net that could fit your production better than the overused 909 cymbals.. (with tweaking, and there are dozens of free 909 sets on the net alreay that would replace the drumstation.. ) if you get any drum machine, get an elektron machine drum, vermona DRM1 mkII, or even a boss machine.. all are infinately more flexible than a drumstation...especially with effects..
