Guest Jaeroon
Who knows what programs are good for creating your own fat kick drum sounds and/or bass lines. Help is much appreciated.
Guest Mike D
Visit the Infected Mushroom site and visit the home studio section, erez shows how they make their kick drums!
Guest Jaeroon
I`ve tried using that method but can only seem to get those typical IM sounds. It might just be me not being able to use the program well enough but I am actually trying to make more Midi Miliz and Delta type kicks. Anyone out there got any ideas? Guest Ez Hi
Just get a good kick-sample and edit it on soundforge? You know..eq here compression there..
Guest hogus
The only software I've really managed to get kick-ass bass out of is Reaktor. It took me a while though, since I had to learn what went into making really powerful bass. For kicks I've found nothing better than manipulating kick samples... depends what kind of kick you want to go for... but starting from a real kick sound you just eliminate the frequencies that and aren't appropriate, boost the frequencies you want, stretch it to the correct pitch. Sometimes I'll layer a synthesized, booming kick over the original... it really depends very much on what goes with the bass sound I've created. Guest aonia
go with BUZZ my friend. I mentioned buzz soooo many times on this forum, people will start thinking I work for them. It's free tho, ;-) In Buzz use Infector -> Filter -> Reverb(sonicverb) -> Panzer Delay -> Master this is my best recipe. I can send you samples of phat bass made in Buzz, short wavs... Guest etherdesign
Waldorf Attack or Sonic Syndicate Junglist.. but VSTi synths.. can be very bassy for software.. for hardware, anything with fast filter and amplitude envelopes with self-resonating filters.. Guest Mike Indidginus
Isn't he talking about bass lines rather than kick drums? Or am I confused...?
Guest phin
the IM kick drum thing in sound forge is a good basic way you can take any kick drum sample and screw with its pitch enveloping and start point in Battery sampler or Reason drum machine. Sonic Syndicate's Junglist 3.0 so nice reason's subtractor synth has nice bass Tritium is a free bass synth that sounds good your fatness can be found in a good compressor as well: set compressor to threshold -6 --- ratio inf:1---attack O release 50 and crank the kick drum into it - the louder you punch the kick into it, the fatter it will become
