further to Hels Q. on studio set ups - where a powerful computer was suggested - can this apply to Laptops too... might sound like a dumb Q. but does anyone use Laptops to compose....?? ie does it make a difference?

I know that a lot of stuff is done on laptops... Don't have one myself, so I'm not going to educate you further than that. But they should be good, depends on what you want to do and how you want to do that.

If you need a good powerfull CPU (you do when you want to create music) I would not reccomend a laptob since you will have to spend much more money (20 - 35% more) to get the same as in a stationary. You also need a soundcard wich in many cases are much more expensive than card's for stationaries... enjoy.
