Guest PortaMento
You can't really compare those two. The Virus is a VA synth and it's great for recreating old analog synths. It gives me all the phat basses and leads, I'll ever need. And it really is a great synth! The Microwave on the other hand is a wavetable synth, and it's not as good for classic analog sounds as the Virus, but that's not what it was meant to do either. It can make some truly wacky out of this world sound fx, and it has some delicious crystal clear pads, sounds which only a wavetable synth can do, and there aren't many of those around. It can probably do a lot more, but I've never really had the time to explore it. I own both of them and if I could only keep one, it would be the Virus since it gives me all the basic sounds and more.
