normalizing DJ mixes in Soundforge

Can someone tell me how this is done effectively? My tinkerings have been more trial and error, in attempt to hide the fact that all the tracks in one of my mixes aren't at exactly the same loudness level.

Any tips or tricks?

Well, normalizing isn't going to work unless you do it track by track, normalizing just raises the volume until the highest level in the file is 0db, so if you have some odd peaks it's not going to work so well.. you'll want to look into dynamics processing, I haven't used soundforge in a while but it should just be called 'Multiband Dynamics' first normalize and then mess around with that..

Use Wave Hammer - for the settings read the WaveHammer Help, it may vary a little, its a bit subjective

But for "pure" normalization just use normalize at RMS - 16 dB default preset - it should get you going.. if it is not enough, use 0dB preset - it'll blow ur head off

nicee nicee

You should normalise your mixes last, if your track is not loud enough, first try to use an expander(the more digital processes you put your mix through the worse it will sound). So whatever processes you put your track through , normalisation should be the last one.(i learned this the hard way)
