Cutting down ASIO latency

At present, I'm running Reason with ASIO drivers with a Soundblaster live card on a PIII 550 with 192 mb ram. Despite everyone boasting about how great ASIO drivers are, I can't get a latency of under about 50-60ms. Is this normal? I find the Direct Sound drivers give me a latency of about 20-30ms which is far more suitable, but I've heard that with ASIO you can get a latency of about 5-6ms! How would I reconfigure it? I've tried looking at the control panel, but I don't have a clue what to touch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

PS - Playback is fine, but I'm keen to cut latency down when I'm playing keyboard along with a track...

Just make sure you have the most recent drivers for your OS. Instal the right, and in your soundcard menu screen choose the smallest latency settings that doesn't give you pops. You dont have the most powerful system so that might be what you get.

I've been having trouble with my ASIO drivers as well lately with my delta 44. I had it running at 3 ms, so smooth and nice. But i just readjusted my computer... LIke the how the actual computer is positioned on my desk and i it screwed up?! I got it running at 10 ms now... Those 7 ms make a difference...

I have almost the same config Jerome

I have about 48 ms latency but my computer slows down and it wont really let me do too much. Reason eats CPU with soundblasters, I dunno why...

Try these drivers:

They work for me, but follow the INSTRUCTIONS carefully!
