Guest Andreas of Amygdala
Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting a patchbay - does any of your have any experience with those? I'm most inclined to go for batham, but those bays are so freakin expensive, so I wondered, what's the advantage over regular jacks? Is it hard to solder them yourself? That way I could save a lot on cables and so on... And a last one - some of you may know my disbelief in Behringer, but those patchbays are SOOO much cheaper, so are they any good, and do they come with bantham cables? Thanks in advance!! Guest spiralix
Those with bantam cables are Alot more expencive.. balanced and stuff.. i dont think there are any cheep patchbays with bantham.. You should go fore unbalanced tele cabled patch bays if you dont want to pay more then 200$ for it...
Guest tonyedp
Hello. Tele patches will give you a harder sound with less bass and transperent sound. The signal have to go through tele connectors a bord where the tele females are connected on and signal paths for normal or halfnormalising. The material is not as good as copper (oxygen free is best) wich will give you the best signal. Bantam patches wich you solder yourself is much better. You solder the cable direct on the coppar connector and that will give you the best sound and flexibility when patching the signals. Or if you have the space make a XLR patch. It's not hard to lern to solder yourself. I don't think the Behringer patch sonds so good but it is easy to use normal or halfnormalising on the Behringer patchbay, just a switch. I have 3 swichcraft bantam paches with 48 or 24 multis solderd on them if you are interested. I live in Sweden. Good Luck.
Guest Andreas of Amygdala
Thanks to both of you!! Tonyedp, that was a very thorough posting - cool I already decided, and went for the Behringer patchbay - seems fine to me so far, but I haven't anything to compare it too - no really, I think it's just fine - as you said, it sure is easy, I like the switches... Thanks again
