Guest lifeform Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 I've narrowed my choice down to these 2 (Studiophile SP-8B , Event PS8's), and i've got about 650 bucks to spend. I know the midiman's are near 150 dollars cheaper, and the frequency range goes down to 33hz... Where as the PS8's are at 35hz... Not a big difference. I'm gonna go to my local shop and bring some shpongle to blast and listen to both... But anyone hear own any of these 2? If so, could ya give me some feedback? I dont want to spend 500+ dollars for peices of s h i t . The PS8's are powered... Am i correct? Quote
Guest etherdesign Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Yes the PS8's are powered.. I dunno how the PS8's sounds in particular, but I have the Event 20/20bas, the PS8's use the woofer and tweeter as the 20/20's, just smaller amps and a different crossover but I swear by mine.. they are crystal clear and not fatiguing at all.. Don't pay much attention to frequency response figures unless you have an actual frequency response graph, because the thing that matters is the slope of the cutoff.. Anyways, the best thing to do is listen, I'm sure you'll like the PS8's.. Quote
Guest lifeform Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 thanks etherdesign. Gonna venture up there tomorrow, hopefully i'll come home with new toys for me to play with. : ) Quote
Guest eXpule Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 IMHO it's only up to you i went to the local shop and compared Event PS8 , Berhinger Thrugh and Tannoy active Reveal all 3 pairs of monitors are biamped I only liked Tannoy Reveal , but they are little bit more expensive i didn't like PS8 , and Berhingers are @!#$ well I ended up buying Alesis mk2 active at the other store:) but you know as professionals say that you can get used to any monitors it's just a matter of time, shitty monitors take longer Quote
