In Fruity 3 - How do I insert automations - like when a synth line is palying ... instead of keeping to the same tone, create a automation controlling resonance or pitch or summin ?

two ways to do it:

1 - hit record in fruity and turn the knob on the synth---it'll play back

2 - open piano roll for that track, at the bottom is a list of the knobs for that synth.....choose the knob you want to tweak and draw the movements in with the pen;)

When I hit record and start tweaking - the bit playing will stop - I've tried it before ... dunno what I'm doing wrong.

The second option I have tried too .... timw consuming innit - but hey ... producing is.

Thanx for the help *thumbsup*

Hey PsiLo :D

Here's a tip - if you wanna record tweaks using the record button you should first create an empty pattern named 'automation' (or whatever you like).

Next, paint in the playlist where you want this automation to be recorded (often the first bar is easiest you'll see why).

Make sure this pattern is selected before you press the record button and begin tweaking.

After all this you should have your tweaks all recorded on this 'automation' pattern and you can manually edit them or view them by using the fruity browser or by clicking 'edit events' on whatever parameter..

Hope that helped!

Happy Fruitying :D

PS: The reason fruity has stopped after only one bar is because the pattern you selected before recording must have been repeated (in the playlist) right after the first bar you started recording from. This is fruity being smart and saying 'you've already recorded for this pattern lets not overwrite what you've already done' :D

Oh.. and make sure you're in song mode to tweak for your song, tweaking can be done in pattern mode, but probably not the way you'd like...

... also, might help buying a midi controller like a control freak or a phat boy; its a lot more fun than manually tweaking one setting with a mouse... :)
