DirectX effect

I'm looking for a directX effect (or VST) which can transform a continuous sound like: tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut into a cutted sound like: tuu uuuu uu uuuu uu uuuut

the space between two gragments of soud is a short silence (a few milliseconds)

The short silences are not regular

It's a very famous effect, frequently used in Trance releases...

Do you see what I mean?

Can you Help me?

Thanks to Psynews organisation!!!!! very good Site!!!!!

hmmm, why dont u just chop up the audio file??????

then you can have precise control over the length of each section.

Waves Mondomod has a chopping effect when you set it to square wave, but its not random...

Thanks!

Yes, I can use the chopper effect in SoundForge for exemple but it does: ta aa aa aa aa aa aa t (the sound is chopped with always the same frequency) and I want control this frequency..control the sequence... to make a random frequency... like that:

taa aaa aa a aaaa a a a a a a a aaaa aa aaa at and repeat this sequence infinitely...

I know it exists, this effect is very often used...

Maybe do you need a music sample to hear exactly what I want?

Thanks!

Hybridalien Filtergate is a good gating plugin... you set it up as an insert effect in your sequencer and send midi notes to it to control the gate. (advantage of this is you can program a whole bunch of gate sequences, save them to a file, then use them whenever you like without having to stuff around).

it also has built in lfo's, reverbs and other fx to make things a little more interesting.

it does sound a bit laggy on my system, but that could be my soundcard/latency setup and not the fault of the plugin :) I have the VST version....im not sure if it comes in DX but its worth a look.
