Hi y'all,

peace-out, respect-up, and word.

I find myself in the halls of my elders. And I ask:

How can I keep the psytrance-sound inside? Here's what I am:

www.ampcast.com/shamanshakti

I'm all over the place. Hard-tech, tekno, heavy trance, ambient, noise, experimental, acid, dark d'n'B, hardcore, jungle, and a little goa every now and again.

How I work:

I just flow to where I go. I can't really stop it, so I just sit down and let the music flow from where it comes from. It really depends on my mood. I really like the psy-trance sounds and want to make more. So, maybe meditation will help? Silent meditation?

How do YOU work on psy/goa-trance? How do you prepare? How long do you take for a track?

Also, do you have any advice for an up-and-comer for getting cut to vinyl, getting signed?

sincerely,

Clear

Good software and hardware will help a lot

and don't get me wrong but it sounds like you are only using Rebirth for your tracks , and unfortunately noone is gonna sign or release it

if you want to make good psy trance ,you have to listen to a lot of it first of all , and i used to rebirth and reason and all that kind of stuff, but it suckes , no matter what people tell you

i was thinking that i was 2 min away of signing with some major label:))))) but if you want to do a little reality check ( that's what helped me to realise that i sucked) just listen to any professionally done track and then listen to yours right away , that always helps

I'm not trying to be rude or anything , but your friends won't tell you the truth , same thing happend to me " yeah man this rocks ! , let's go for a beer"

and the hardest part is to make not just the style , but the track you want , not the one that is flowing

well good luck , and once again i 'm not being rude it's just my opinion

Well, personally, i dont think you have a problem at all. It's actually quite good that your very open minded to writting music. And i dont think you should subject yourself to just one style. Just write man, dont try to be defined. Some of the best musicians of all time just played whatever came to their head not worriing about what crowd it's going to appeal too. Play music cause you love it.

YEAHHHH!!!

I finally got some good constructive critism. I did think I was phat @!#$, but listening to some of the kids's stuff here on the discussion forum has put me to shame. Back to reality, back to love of the music process.

So, it's not rebirth, it's fruity loops(and sound forge too). But I understand it's all sounding like I got a digital/computer/software sound.

***eXpulse***, what tracks did you listen to? You're telling me "Ed-na" sounds like it was done with rebirth???? Yeah, I've gotten "Dude, that sounds good... Much better than your older stuff, you're improving..."

***hola***. same to you... What tracks did you listen to? So my bassline sux? Do my drums need some roughing up? Is my synth flat? Too much stuff going on at once? Good opener, but back it up.

***Lifeform***: I'm realizing the same thing. It's okay (actually good) to be diverse. I do love it. I love it more than money, I love it more than women, I love it more than food (which is a problem sometimes)

***To All***: I realized this yesterday (what do you think?)

"If you want a consistant sound you need a consistant environment (in mind, body, AND soul)"

thank you all for your fedback, shalom,

Guest Hola

ok

i listened to like 5-6 tracks at the beginning of the list

your melodies are pretty good sometimes, but all the drums and basslines are totally messed up

i personally don't have much experience with frutty loops , but trust me

try Cubase with plug ins , and you'll see the difference

plus do you use the monitors or the computer speakers, cuz the sound is a little wierd , like the track starts fine but in the middle it can start going berzerk cuz the levels go up way to high ( i'm not big on mastering myself but i can hear it)

and can you dance to your own music? no , cuz once again try working on the drum arrangment and the bassline , and you use some sort of wierd kicks , that just don't sound right

but there is a definately good job on 303s , and it does sound like you have a musical background

once again , a lot of people gonna bash me ( my friend actually realeased couple of tracks made with frutty) , but try cubase or logic, get a pair of monitors and a decent soundcard, cuz you obviously have the music skills, and it'll help you with the arrangment , .....well it helped me a lot

IMHO

okay:

Yeah, sadly, it's only the cheep-o computer speakers, 50$ @ Frys. So that's why the bass end sucks ass.

What about a good set of monitors? Brands, models?

Hola, you rock. Your advice/critisms will take me further than anyone else has, muchas gracias. All I needed was someone to tell me that my tacks sucked and why.

And where's your stuff? I wanna listen.

Good call on the musical back ground. Had a piano for a while, played trumpet, clarinet, bassoon as a kid (not all at once, HA).

So, here's my plan (worked pretty good last night with a happy hardcore tune):

Have a track open in Winamp, listen to it a little, go straight to fruity, back to winamp, and back and forth until I fall unconsious.

peace-out,

Clear
