Guest Rikard
If u want to buy new, then SH-32 looks like a good low budget alternative, and second hand.. get a groovebox or something, or else u have to buy more gear.
Guest nairda
My thoughts also go in the direction of the sh 32. I already have an mc303, a bit outdate, but groovebox isnt for me. tnx.
Guest Lifeform
I say go for the A-Station. It has more timbres, and new roland gear blows. A-Stations got nice liquid filters. for only be 500 bucks... You can make some phat bassline's on that thing too. The MS2000 only has 2 multitimbral parts so just be aware of that. Seems to be widely used though. Guest Spiralix
I also think you should get a-station or ms2000.. I have supernova. and thats the same as A-station, only a bit bigger.. It sounds great! Ive tried the ms 2000 too, realy cool! youo can get alot of wicked sounds from it! Maybe you could check out the older virus versions?? dont know the price of em tho.. Guest Rikard
I would not recomend the A-station. Its not multi timbral, which means ure gonna have to buy alot of other stuff also. Best alternative is to get a second hand VA, like Nova, Virus or some of the Waldorfs. All of these are great and they got built in effects which is quick to work with. I think that a second hand Novation Nova is one of the best synths you can get for that kind of money, about 700€ (ive got one myself, and im very satisfied with it). Guest phlux0r
On the other hand, if you are on a tight budget and wanna twist some knobs, you can always get a good MIDI controller box with the knobs and still use all your soft-synths... then slowly save up for something like a Virus/Nord/Waldorf... Guest drav
Kenton control freak live. Its got loads of knobs, it made of metal, its bright red and very very good. Oh yeah and if you squint you can pretend its a Nord lead Oh yeah while im on the subject of soft synths (well i am now) get the triangle 2 from www.kvr-vst.com. For a free synth its one of the best ive heard. Much better than the weedy offering from Computer Music, the cm101, which people seem to think is good. Probably cos the magazine told em it was Urrgh, sounds like an internal speaker. The triangle is excellent tho, and has more knobs than you could possibly use all at once. Which is always nice
Guest Rikard
I used to own a Dopefer pocket control. its a 16 knob midi control, built in metal and very solid feel to it. It was really good and the knobs where fully programable also. I recomend it (it is also much cheaper than other similar controls like Phatboy etc). Or if you need a midi keyboard as well, then go for the Midiman Oxygen 8. Its cheap and does the job very well (and it looks damn cool ! ). Althou.. the reason that i dont own a midi control box anymore is that i barely ever used it. My plan was to use the knobs to control reason, but it was to ankward since the knobs was multi functional without labeling.. i always ended up using the mouse instead.. so i cant recomend to buy a midi control to 'emulate' hardware gear. It will never be the same.
