Guest going insane!
I finally picked up my 1st music production only comp(pc) I am running an RME Digi 96/8 pst...and there is no sound coming out of the card and my comp keeps locking up when I try to play a sound(no music software installed yet, just using a windows player)!!!!!! I download the updated driver for the RME card and still no sound, but my comp doesnt freeze as fast(but still does if left unattended for 5 or so minutes, which is also weird) I have the card running from the line out(analog I/O) to my stereo amp(cant afford monitors yet)...everything seems to be in order, so any suggestions as to what I need to do to prevent the comp from locking/freezing and have sound come out of the sound card??????? any info is much appreciated bom
Guest phlux0r
I don't know your card so I can't really say anything about how you can fix your problem but, usually there is a manufacturer website and, if you're lucky, some sort of troubleshooting FAQ there (or if you're even luckier, a user forum not unlike this one here). So the first thing to do is to see if anyone reported similar problems to yours... you may also want to do a Google web search or a Google newsgroup search... Also, you can try to ring your audio card support centre and ask them directly. Thing is, mostly these problems are due to a whole lot of different variables working together, like your type of motherboard, other components in the system, installed OS and drivers etc... so, ideally we'd need to know all these things in order to be able to help you. Things you can check and do are: - did you select the correct audio output device in your windows audio setup (Control Panel -> Sounds and Multimedia -> Audio -> Playback) - do you have ALL the newest drivers for ALL your hardware in your system? - did your audio card get a separate IRQ for itself? (AUDIO doesn't like IRQ sharing) - are you running Win2K and your audio card drivers don't support that OS? - do you have a VIA chipset on your motherboard? (If so, download and install the latest 4in1 drivers from the VIA site) That's all I can help you with - sorry if you already did this.
