What do you suppose the odds are of the CDJ-1000s coming down in price significantly over the next two years?

They're, what, $1,300 a pop right now? I'd love to have a pair of those babies, but if the price can be expected to drop to, say, $900 by 2003/4 I just might hold off.

In my opinion, you really don't need all the @!#$ it has. When playing at a party, there is already enough to think about, making the mixes, thinking of which track to play next, to have extra time to play around with all those extra features. Maybe for home mixes it might be cool. The only thing that I find VERY interesting with the CDJ-1000s is that Pioneer says it makes CD's sound like vinyl in terms of frequency range... I wonder how that is possible!

I got to try one out at a store yesterday. The way you can manipulate a CD with this thing....it's incredible. So close to vinyl.

Its already available for US $1000

IMHO not worth it, for the same money you could get the Pioneer Pro DJ Kit (Two CDJ-100 + One DJM-300 Mixer)

Do those CDJ-100s work very well? Can you "drop a beat" as easily? Can pitch be altered as drastically?

Ok...to be fair, I went back to the same store to try out the CDJ-100.

No contest. The 1000 makes the 100 look pitiful, if not completely obsolete.

The 1000 has far superior tempo control, release control, monitoring (complete with wav data and a friggin' BPM counter), and damn it, it just looks cooler.

And you can run stuff backwards. How psychedelic is that? :)

OK, whatever you want, like I said, I think I might enjoy it at home, but at a party I wouldn't need all those features, it's about the music mostly for me. But that is personal opinion. I think the CDJ-100s works fine, you can easily drop beats, and for the rest of the money you could get many other things.

Yes I agree. After chatting to a lot of my mates who dj professionally at clubs and raves, they said the CDJ-1000 is a nice idea but totally useless in a pro session, as you are more than busy enuff with the mxing, let alone trying to incorporate sampling etc. The CDJ 100's are not that amazing in effects and sampling, but they do more than well as a good cd player, easy to use with the djm-300 and with the left over cash, go buy some more wicked music!! Think like this, you can have the cdj-100's and more music or hardware at home to practice and have fun with, then ket the organizers or clubs fork out for the cdj-1000's and use them then!! I just know for a fact that I will be happy when I get my cdj-100's and djm-300 in November, having used them at a few 21st's and livng them!!

Whats the cheapest DJ-system (2 CD + mixer with BPM counter) ?

Pswe - there are many brands out there and they can get pretty cheap, but you end up with what you paid for. The best budget option is go get the package deal of two Pioneer CDJ-100s and a Pioneer DJM-300 mixer - many audio stores should be able to hook you up with this package, and the overall cost should be less than the individual cost of the items.
