i was wondering how method do u use to write down a track. i mean do u write every note in your sequencer, or do u prefer playing via any midi device (percussion pads, groovebox, midi guitar...) or both ??

What i normally do is write my electronic genre tracks on the guitar and bass... Yes, real instruments. And get a song going on there... And then transfer it to electricity, hehe.. My method may sound kinda weird but it works best for me cause i can be anywhere and be writting trax. I try to make my basslines alittle moer interesting then boom -dee- boom -dee- . Mainly chill stuff. But to answer yer real question ussually play the riffs thru a midi controller into my sequencer. And then clean it up.. Quanitize.. Note Length, etc... Drawing out each one of those notes gets mighty anoying after a while.

so i guess i'm weird too... i use a djembe that i record over a track, then use the stuff for the rhytmic parts (hi hats cymbals ...) . as i have no midi controller i must write it again, but i think it add alot to the feeling of the track. maybe should i get some percussion pad, i haven't tried that yet so i don't know if it's good.

We mostly use real percussion and some sequensed loops,

but usally we build our whole tracks on one concept.

Sometimes we get that concept by playing around with livedrums, pianos etc. ,

and sometimes we get it by fooling around with diffrent sequenced stuff.

All and all it´s all depending on which way your most comfortble working with.
