Guest kujo
Hello everyone! I am just starting my set-up and have problems to decide which computer would be better... I could afford a used G4tower, last year's 600MHz iMac, or the new emac woth G4 processor. As you see, I am definitely proMac. In the end, I don't really know what would be better to use between a tower, or a compact emac... My computer will be devoted for music, and will run reaktor, reason, and, probably, pro logic or digital performer as my main softwares. I compose trance, chill-out, ambiant, world pop kind of stuff. I would like to know your opinions on wich one would suit music the better... Thanks... Kujo
Guest Elysium Project
Go for the G4 tower. The iMac is not at all expandable. That mean you will not be able to put a soundcard into it! The build in soundcard is good but have no input - only output! The G4 is expandable up to 4 x 150Gbyte hardisks. 1.5 Gbyte ram and has room for soundcard (some models do not have a build in soundcard with a input so choose your model carefully) and several other units. But be aware that you need to buy a pro soundcard to be able to make proper music! Have fun.
