Just mess around until you find what you like, and then keep messing around until you know what you're doing. Tip for that sort of trance is lots of notes, lots of delay, lots of note shifting (up and down). Try using a SINGLE voice synth ( simple example, Reason , use subtractor and put polyfonny on 1 instead of 8 default) and let your notes overlap , then you get a smooth sweeping sound , great for basselines alla Infected or LB.
