m8 er...thats kind of the knack to makin trance. Cant really explain it. Just mess around until you find what you like, and then keep messing around until you know what you're doing. Tip for that sort of trance is lots of notes, lots of delay, lots of note shifting (up and down). Just get out your sequencer and play :)

If you want to make goa lines, learn all about arpeggios as well... good synths and sequencers will let you do arpeggios.

Another tip....

 

Try using a SINGLE voice synth ( simple example, Reason , use subtractor and put polyfonny on 1 instead of 8 default) and let your notes overlap , then you get a smooth sweeping sound , great for basselines alla Infected or LB.

I have a sample of something like that from one of my songs...oh yes, and Panning's fun, so experiment with that, too. =D
