Guest Lifeform
Those of you out there who use hardware synths... What method do you use to record your midi? If you have a multitimbral synth... you have many different midi tracks playing thru on output. How do you go about using effects? Or do you just record them one by one, like me? ....Just curious.... shpongled
I quess there are also soundcards with meny inputs.... so you can record them at the same time but into different audio channes. And i quess that if you want different effects to every part you simply need meny fx boxes.
Guest Bodhisattva
I use a behringer mixing table 32 channels and a gadgetlabs 24 bit audio card with 8 mono inputs. Effects are connected (hardware) to the mixer 's sends , if the effect racks suck i use software effects in logic and plugin the sint directly in the soundcard and bounce the track ! Hope that helps! Guest Lifeform
Well i have a 16 channel mixer where i have all my hardware synths/mics/gadgats running thru, and i have a delta 44 w/ the Omni IO. So i only have really 2 sets of channels to work with. Gets alittle in the way of my creative process. Well thanks for your guys's advice, i dont really feel the need to invest in a new soundcard right now since this d44 is working completey wicked for me right now. Works great with SX. I'll have to do some major tweaking though.
Guest coriolis
before i got my creamware pulsar and starting doing everything with that, i was fighting the same problem you face. i usually ended up using whatever capability the hardware synth had for applying effects the various patches. when i had to, i would record a part to audio and apply a vst/dx plugin but I never wanted to give up the immediate compositional flexibility of a purely midi-based composition. that is why i bought the pulsar (among many other reasons).
