Guest Lifeform
I need your help guys. Anyone who owns a JP8000 could you please respond to this thread. JP8000 and midi... I've never got it to directly work. If i set my midi in and out of my JP in my sequencer (SX) and try to record note and CC's data. It sounds like crap. It seems as if it's playing the same note in every octave regardless of what octave i'm playing in. Like it plays humungous chords, when i'm just pressing a monophonic note. And when i try to record CC's in realtime, it starts crackling and my synth freezes up (???). The only way i can work around this is if i send my midi out to the JP and the Midi in to a seperate keyboard such as my korg gear, or my oxygen 8. Then i must draw in my CC's manually, instead of just letter 'er rip. I've tried everything to get this to work correctly for me, but still i have no luck. I know there are some users of the JP8000 on the forum so please lend a guy a hand. What midi settings are you using? In both the JP, and the sequencer. When i just used VST, i never got it to work correctly either. I'm leaving for orlando for a few days so if i dont respond, it doesn't mean i'm ungrateful, just simply... not here. Thanks guys, hope to chat with you Monday night.

Guest Bodhisattva
OK , well il do my best to help but havent use cubase before (i am downloading a copy as we speek:) ) JP8000 => roland synth . How much outputs has it got ? Do you send everything true the mix? Are the channels asigned to respond on various sysex commands ? SX cubase ? => When your synth locks up you have a midi loop or sysex loop (also midi) OR you are jamming to hard but that aint the case i guess. :d I dont KNOW cubase so i dont know if you can create a midi monitor or not so.... For logic: Tip 1 => Find another environment for your synth (or create one but that is not so easy) Tip2=> Install SOUNDDIVER and let him find your synth to see if the sysex is working or not. Tip3=> Check the midi channel on the synth , 1-16 Tip4=> Create a MIDI monitor in your environment , read out the sysex and use your manual to figure out whats wrong.... Tip5=> Make sure you SELECTED the track with your mouse when TESTING. thats al for now.... i have a super JD990 and when i use it in logic with softsynths there is an ENORMOUS latency between the MIDI sound (from synth true Mixingtable) and the audio generated by the SS's. i fix it wit the delay on the track (in the upper left corner , delay xx/xx) but its no good like that Does anyone has a clue about THAT ? Guest Lifeform
Bodhisattva, well thanks for responding! Well it's only has a stereo outputs and midi in/out/ no thru : ( It looks like i have everything set up proporly. I have the device ID set to 17 on both the synth and SX. And i ussually make a loop off 4 to 8 measures and tweak for a while, CC loops yet. I have my remote channel set to channel 1, as with SX. And i have my proformance channel set to 3 to get it out of the way a bit since that's my multisound instances. I have my Local Switch On, Midi Sync On (doesn't sync!!!) TX/RX Edit SW On, RX Exclusive SW On, TX/RX Bank ProgChg SW to Bank Sel + PC ON. Yeah, i dont get it.. Playing massive chords when i just press one note? I dunno. It's kinda weird that i have to program it off another midi keyboard. I'll see if i can get my hands on SoundDiver and check that out. I wish one of the MANY JP owners on this forum would reply though. Thanks for your help though Bodhisattva.

Guest reece
hmmm, i cant help u bro, sorry! yups i got a JP but im a logic user and have Never had any problems with midi,.... all the settings you mentioned in the JP are exactly the way mine is set, so.....? it records midi data (only notes, havent tried fader movements - no need to tho cuz i tweak it live), and plays back fine. sorry mate, best of luck to ya! :-)
Guest Drav
Ok i read summin about this. The fact that you are getting notes recorded on every octave is a problem with cubase SX rather than the JP8000. Steinberg are working on it and there is a workaround, but i cant remember what it was. Go to the sound on sound forums and they'll be able to help you more
Guest nick
i agree with drav, if it worked on vst then simple logical deduction is needed. .........it must be sx.
