Cubase sx and windows

First thank you all for your wisdom and advice recently.

This cubas sx sounds tempting.

I use windows 98.

I have absolutly no interest in a more recent version of windows.

I know 98, I can troubleshoot 98, I like 98.

Will this fancy schmancy new cubase work with windows 98?

I will look into this online, but does anyone here use Cubas sx with windows 98?

I am using cubase version 5 and yeah, it is hard to use and ugly.

I really don't feel like laying out another chunk of cash for a new Cubase.

Can Cubase 5 be upgraded to sx?

I do NOT plan on upgrading windows.

Thanks all

CG

yes, you can upgrade from vst to sx and NO, you can't use it on 98.

may I suggest logic 5? works nice on 98 and is extremely cheap for PC nowadays.

It would cost 299 to upgrade from vst 5. it will cost you another 300 dollars to upgrade to XP. hehe.. Sorry dude. I would not go for Logic 5 though... why would you spend 600 dollars on a non upgradable program..? That'd be the stupidest choice to make... Where you could buy the OS, and upgrade to SX for that much, and have years of updates with it. Think about it...

I should work on steinberg advertising team, hehe... . :D

Maak ku paax,

Really?!

I checked the cubase web page and in their faq sectin they said Cubase sx would not work on windows 98, and to use Cubase sx you must upgrade to at least windows 2000.

If you are using cubase sx on windows 98 what kind of system are you using.

cpu?

ram?

If it will work on win. 98 the upgrade may be woth it.

well i just downloaded the software some time ago, and everything seems to work fine...

maybe the original one may not work, I'm having troubles recording midi, but maybe it's because I'm relatively new using cubase, who knows

Windows 2000 is really not substantially different from windows 98 in terms of UI, with the exception of the management console. I can't honestly understand why anyone would want to use win98 when there's a stable alternative (well, as stable as MS OSs get).
