The Waldorf for sure. The Xt is a wavetable synth and the sounds u can get from it are a lot more psy than a virus, i feel. I really like the interface on the xt also with all the endless knobs. The sonic scope of the waldorf is more wide too it can do your classic squelchy type sounds, great bass sounds and it does things like atmospherice drones and pads flawlessly.

hope this helps

enjoy

Well lets see... I spoke to Sun Project once ( thru email ) and i think they told me the XT was their favorite synth and alot of their sounds come off of there, in their earlier albums. It's definitly not as phat as the Virus, and it sure as hell isn't as insane as the Virus.. Depends on the sound you want. Virus is a wicked as hell synth that you can modulate like crazy, and the Xt will give you that more clear, thin(?) sound... You can produce FX on it, but no where close to the virus b... Like Jakemyth said... It's good for drones. ... I guess it's how YOU play it. Test em out, but my 2 sense are...

Get the Virus, ... I love the orange though on the XT. It's a sexy looking synth. ... but i prefer anolog/VA, over wavetable.

I just reliezed you weren't asking which to buy, but why WE would do. Sorry bout that...

...I'll add one thing though, the Virus gives you alot more multitimbral/voices over the XT's 8Multi/10voice.

dimitri from wizzy noise told me he liked the waldorf also. im asking cuz im thinking about getting one of these two, and i have no opportunity to try out either one. the stores dont have them. it seems to me...and please correct me if im wrong, that the virus is a little more versatile in as far as being a more complete instrument. and the waldorf is better for more unique and creative sounds.

so...im thinking...because i can only get one for now (not even now...when i save up)...maybe the best bet is the virus, as ill have more options to use it for more things...that is i can use it exclusively (almost) to make all my tracks. it seems the waldorf might not be as good for that. if i expanded the waldorf to 30 voices....would that push it past the virus?

please tell me if im interpreting this all wrong.

thnx for the inpunt

Well Idoru... It all comes down to multitimbral parts... I believe the XT has 8... the Virus has 16 (maybe 24?) !!! That means you can play back twice as many parts at once. Both are very good and versitile synths, but in the long run i think the Virus will make you happier.

If you want good value for money, Waldorf offers the MicroQ Club Bundle for only 555 Euros. This includes the MicroQ lite plus free upgrade to standard MicroQ (25 voices), free Construction Soundset, and 2000 sounds and tools on CD Rom. You can also always upgrade it to 75 voices!! Features and sound (same as for the Q) are at least as good as for the virus b, except for the amount of real time knobs and buttons.

Offer is only available until end of august.

"if you could only have one which one would you chose...and why?"

Which ever looks better in the dark. :) (the most important quality of a hardware synth :)
