Guest Snowball
As you all know artists such as Absolum, Nomad, Talamasca and others have changed the usal concept of using hardware synths to soft synths ONLY and some one told me that there are soft-synth versions similar or equal to hardware synths such as nordlead virus, waldorf Q e.t.c. So I suppose these artists use such vst instruments. SO what I wish to know is whixh are the VST instruments wich can make you sound like you use all of thesa amazing hardware synths in your studio while all you are using is your computer

Guest Red Headed Stepchild
If your Computer has around 128MB of ram or more, has a processor speed of 450Mhz or more and has a good sound card with low latency. Then you can find VST instruments that will sound as good as most hardware. There are some hardware synths that just can't seem to be digitally remade but most can with the right program code. Guest Will
Some amazing soft synths : Analog Style Native Instruments Pro 52 RGC Audio Pentagon I RCG Audio Triangle II TC Works Mercury 1 Other Style Native Instruments Absynth Native Instruments B4 Native Instruments FM7 Drums Native Instruments - Battery http://www.rgcaudio.com/ http://www.native-instruments.com/ http://www.tcworks.de/ http://www.evolution.co.uk/ I am using a midi keyboard from evolution, the MK-249C which probably does not have as good an action as some more expensive controllers. However for the price (on the site £149.99, cant remember how much i paid for it) it is a very nice controller which i enjoy using and the action is very acceptable. Has also 12 assignable knobs to control soft synths therefore is perfect for psy music. Works via USB with no problems, has also midi if you want that instead. If I was buying now, i would probably buy the larger one. my favourite soft synths i have listed above. The Pro 52 and the RGC synths make excellent analog psy sounds. You could even make an excellent track from the presets if you were so lazy. The FM7 makes some nice pads and uplifting sounds. The B4 simulates an vintage organ, not useful for psy but makes nice classic house sounds if that is your cup of tea. Saving the best for last, the Absynth makes some unbelievable sounds including amazing pads and stuff. I read Mark Allen favours Absynth. The quality of sound is just unbelievable. A lot of these synths also work standalone but are very nice in vst with some effects. All these synths with the exception of the drum machine Battery do not require samples. If you have a good computer with lots of ram and most important a sound card with low latency, these synths will work very nice in VST. If you prefer to use Cakewalk Sonar you can get an adapter plugin that makes VST plugins work in Sonar. Like the DirectiXer VST Adapter http://www.tonewise.com/DirectiXer/ If you have a soundblaster live card you could download the kX Driver from http://www.kxproject.com/ which gives full ASIO support and low latency. If you do not have low latency there will be a delay between the pressing of the keys on your midi controller and the sound being heard, among other problems. Although i believe in cakewalk sonar you can get away with not using this driver. In VST I am not completely happy with the kX Driver but it gives a good beginning to learn vst and the synths using what I have before deciding whether I want to get serious and spend $$$$$ on a real music creation soundcard. The last paragraph was not relevant to Snowball's question and directed to any beginners who may read this thread. Hope you all have as much fun with these products as I am having.
