Is a Mackintosh IBook powerfull enough for Logic Platinum 5+

I was wandering:

Would a setup like this work?

*Mackintosh “Ibook” running Logic Platinum 5+

*Emagic EMI 2/6 Audio interface

*Some USB midi interface

At this moment I work on PC and I was planning on buying a laptop for live performances. The recent Emagic take over by Apple made me concentrate on Mackingtosh but a powerbook is way to expensive for me.

Does anyone have any experience with a setup like this, live and for production?

The newer versions of Logic are optimized for the G4 processor, so naturally it runs smoother on the powerBook... Apart from that, I think the G3 processor is equally powerfull, when the programs are not optimized (I may be dead-wrong though...) - So it really comes down to the clock-frequency, the amount of memory, cache, and all that.

My guess would be, that a decent iBook is ample for running Logic, but I wouldn't bet on it - try to eMail Emagic and ask - I think they'll know, and are very willing to answer your question as precisely as possible ("potentiel customer, whooptidoo" ) :)

But, alas, I haven't any experience, since I only bought my powerBook last friday - but getting to know macintosh better, I should think an iBook is up for it as well :)
