Guest Mike D
Fruity loops ios great, but it might be fun as well to get a soft sample to make your own samples to use in it as well. You can make wicked minimal trance and some weird arse shit, but if you are into the Astra;/MFG/Yahel sound a keyboard is kinda needed. You can actually start off qith a cheapish keyboard, you don't need a virus or nordlead to start out, as they cost a bomb!
Guest like you care
yea...Flp is great for beginers....if u like making music you should start thinking of learning cubase or logic or cakewalk, and mybe soundforge or some other sound mastering prog but i guess you whant some pointers... and il give u some pointers to other pointers =) http://www.kvr-vst.com/index.php http://www.espace-cubase.org/anglais/accueil.php http://tilt.largo.fl.us/faq/synthfaq.html <---very good read and learn but dont get to deep. it will all make sense in time, just try to be creative and learn as you go...some things is easy and some things are hard...its up to you and how much time you are willing to spend. if u gonna use frutiy loops u will need some software synths and FX, for baselines try the freeware "muon tau" (grabb it here at: http://www.muon-software.com/html/tau_download.html ) now sit down..lay out some notes( remember the time/gate under func in flp) add some compressor (be carefull it can make u deff) and some Equlizer...try starting with kick and baseline and hihats and clap, experiment with difrent beats.... and try the cool ts 404.....its can generate some cool sounds, with some FX on it, like reverbe and delay......for a little psyier FX try flanger with dealy check the attack, decay, sustain, release= motion of the sound well...if u hang around the Kvr forum you will learn alot, and they are great helpers also..... Guest nick
one of the great things about psy is that it can involve many different influences from other music such as a fat breakbeat, or 1/2 bar techno loops etc. but its most defining factor has to be the kick and bass. get this sounding right and you're already half way to making a psy sounding track. the infected mushroom site can give you a good way to making a psykick - get on that pitch envelope sine wave thang. get the bass to pump with yer kick - theres some good advice on bass production on this site 'good fat bass anyone' and some good links to other tips. but yea like i said - get this right then you can really start to experiment with other elements
