Guest ird
Hi all, I have a question to all musicians working with hardware (Elysium, OOOD, etc.). Could you recommend a good (but not very expensive) FX unit? I'm actually looking at the following possibilities: Ensoniq DP/4+, Digitech Studio Quad and the Alesis family. I have a TS10 as a master keyboard, so I know what a DP4 is.. wonderful reverbs, an amazing phazer that's used in many psy tracks (too distinctive, though..), etc etc.. this is my primary choice atm. I haven't played with any Digitech or Alesis units, but judging from their tech specs I can say they're all rather basic.. Needless to say, I can't afford an Eventide There're also Lexicons, but I don't think they're really usable in psy.. Thanks in advance. Guest Elysium Project
Fireworx from the Danish pro's T.C. Electronics is a killer I am not sure how expensive it is at your place but it's deffinently in the mid price range - not too expensive and not too cheap :-)) http://www.riksmusic.com/tc_electronics/fireworx.htm You mention Ensoniq DP/4+...which is fairlty good but for about the same amount I would prefer Fireworx. But stay away from Alesis...they are in my opinion not worth the money.
Guest Elysium Project
http://www.tcelectronic.com/products.asp?p...d=34&category=1 That should be a better link :-)) You can order a free demo CD of Fireworx or their other effect machines from their website. Guest ird
Yep, FireworX is a great machine, but the price really bites ($1500).. DP4+ can be found for only $450 here, and I almost made up my mind.. but now I'm listening to FireworX demos, and hell it sounds so wicked I wish they had a "FireworX lite" or something... Thanks anyway, EP.
Colin OOOD
I mainly use virtual FX these days but I do know that Lexicon have some cheap (£300-£500) multi FX boxes out. I haven't tried them myself but they've goot to be worth checking out. I wouldn't expect them to be four-channel like the DP4 or the Digitech though!
