hi

im running logic5 platinum, have a p4 1.7, windows 2000, rme digi 96/8pst sound card. Heres my problem...

when i use logic's vst instruments(es1,es2,esx24) i get a popping/crackling sound on certain freq...this popping/crackling also occurs when Im playing more than 3 tracks in the sequencer. Anyone know how to solve the crackling and popping prob???

the bigger problem is that when I tried to solve this problem I made some bad choices in modifying the PC AV option(I have the PC AV and ASIO selected). After I made these modifications I now have NO sound in logic!!!!

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling logic but my dongel saved all the changes for some reason!!!! How do I fix this???

To the person who can solve these problems first, I will send you a mix cd of mine no matter where you live. It is imparitive I get this fixed soon.

peace

Well, first... Your dongle holds no information at all. It's just a copy protection key. And it's always best to remove the dongle when installing/upgrading programs that use dongles, else it will not intall/upgrade the way it's supposed to.

I'm gonna state the most obvious first..

Latest drivers for your RME? How hard are you working it? What's your latency? Try recording at 44.1 if you have it hat 96. Try lowering your latency to 10 seconds or so... Or in some cases... Try raising it up! (trust me, it's weird, but it works sometimes)

Do you have your ASIO driver selected in Logic 5? Did you run ASIO tests to make sure it's running right? Does it work without pops while just playing Mp3's or whatever other kinds of audio?

Is your soundcard conflicting with anything else on your computer (check device manager)? Maybe by chance your video/graphic card?

Have you made any major tweaks that could cause this problems...? Registry edits can destroy your audio performance, if done incorrectly/wisely. Speaking of performance... what's your performance meter in Logic 5 at? Is it peaking?

Do you have any antivirus programs like norton virus? ghost? running while trying to perform audio? If so, get rid of them, that's a no-no.

...Answer all those questions to yourself, if it's not fixed. Try out this site http://www.bluelifeaudio.com/~pcconfig/

btw... did you have this working prior to this post? Or are you brand new and just can't get it to work?

sorry for the delay people...been spinning my cds and rekkids and working none stop for the past week

i went into the logic menu from 'start' on the bottom tool bar...in the same section of the menu as the plug-in loader/deleter their is direct access to your sound card(dont know what its called since im not on that comp). Seems all the ins and outs of the card were selected so i switched all but in 1+2 and out 1+2 off.

For the popping I unselected PC AV and only had ASIO selected. I then started playing with the delays etc and boom! It works perfectly.

Andrew/Lifeform, the mix was placed in the mail last week...so you should receive it by friday or monday. Please let me know what you think
