Hi,

First of all one thing to understand is that if your going to try "professional possibilities on a pc" than your going to need professional gear. Going with a Audigy should be avoided. I have it and aside from it having no upsides it causes me all sorts of compatibility problems. Alos, I would buy a strong CPU chip, a strong motherboard with lots of RAM (for serious stuff 256MB is minimum... I have 512 but the more the better). Also check first if all the software, hardware etc you are going to use (especially DSP stuff like say Luna or Pulsar) is compatible with you Motherboard, OS, etc...

Always check what upgrades can be made before you buy a computer... try to give yourself some "growing room" - get some more RAM, disk space than you'll initally need.

Try to avoid the Audigy... with 24 bit playing media around the corner I think that buying a strong computer for proffesional production and then getting a 16bit sound blaster is kinda counter-productive....

anyone is free to correct me on any wrong statment.

Hope that was of some help

One thing I forgot - I'm not sure if new computers are still sold with SDRAM but if you can aford it get DDRAM or RDRAM as they are newer faster Ram.... the thing is you need a motherboard that supports your memorychip type... I myself have a motherboard with SDRAM so to upgrade my Ram i need a new board...

Cpu: Celeron, less on board LII cache so it sucks for hig truput processing.

The audigy card is kinda lame , you should buy the luna II i gues, i posted an "opinions" topic earlier here, hope to get some respons!

For pc: Fast CPU (NO AMD , NO CELERON) that is for PRO gear !!!!

Memmmmmm as mutch as possible and fast harddisks , for sample read out...

Thats all

If you like me to design the perfect killing machine , send me an e-mail and ill let you know what to get !! bodhisattva@pandora.be

well; there are 2 thingas that control the performance of a pc when used as a music studio : soundcard and ram.

you could possibly do without a speedy cpu [an athlon xp 2200+ is good enough] instead; save all the money; buy a good soundcard; and importantly; upgrade as much ram as your motherboard can take

[there's no such thing as enough ram. no amount of ram is good enough]

consider having at least 512mb of ram. [preferebly ddrsdram]
