Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Their tracks "Pooloop" and "Secrets" have really blown me away. I know they are old, and they have always done that, but I have never really checked anything else they have released, so my question is: Have they released anything as good as the two I've mentioned above? Thanks. :-) Quote
Guest [tom jaimz] Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Yes. I know a great resource called PsyNews that has a very helpful Search feature, with which you can search for Track from a group. They also have a forum, but it's full of fools, so I wouldn't bother with that. ;-) Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Well, I was looking for opinions on other tracks they have released. Quote
Guest [tom jaimz] Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Ok, so I missed that "as good as" and came off looking like a dickhead. These things happen when you're a little smashed. So, here's a follow-up with the cunt factor [tm] removed. Trimatic have had a few good releases, although I find some of they releases are a little poor. My favourites are "Funcator" on Iboga [12" and Set: 01], and "Ride the Rim", on Baluns [12"]. P. Woland I don't like so much as Trimatic.. they're a little too stripped back, although I understand if you like that sound you'd probably like them. I should also take a moment to recommend the likes of Pope of Gegga - another group along the same lines as P. Woland. If you like Pooloop check out the InZaned remix on Digital Sructures, and the original on a 12". Ok. I figure that's redemption enough. ;-) Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Haha, thanks man. I'll give them a try. ;-) I know Pope Of Gegga though, they have released some good tracks. The P-Woland rmx of We Are the Mammoth Hunters is actually nice enough, if you haven't heard that. Quote
Guest Mahoney Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I recommend the Kyoto EP from Trimatic,, doesn´t sound like Poloop,, so maybe take a listen first,, Quote
Guest Tegma Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Pope of gegga is the same person as P.woland :-) Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I have on word for the Tegma guy and that's "album". :-P Quote
Guest Mescalinium Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I just picked up "beast in a box" by Trimatic (balu001) and it's pretty kickin. I also have the Kyoto 12" which I like a lot. Check out the Zenglodon Spice EP, also on Baluns. I'm assuming you know Trimatic = Son Kite. And on that note, check out the Youngel single on FR (son kite). Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 The Spice EP is kick ass. Very minimal, but nice groove, build up. I'll check out "beast in a box". Thanks. I didn't like Youngel, but maybe I have to give a few more listens. Quote
Guest Mescalinium Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I know it's cliched, but you have to listen to Youngel on a big sound system. The bass dropped on top of the kick is just monumental. It's one of my favorite Son Kite tracks, and they're definately my favorite act right now. Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I understand. I have a pretty big system: Cerwin-Vega! LS-15 and NAD 216 THX, but I can't play loud now, it's night -But I'll give it a listen again tomorrow. :-) Quote
Guest asshopper Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 beast in a box kicks ass, if you like this tune, try Son Kite's remix on Paps 2000 Hands is as good as it gets! dig it! Quote
Guest Syre Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Yeah, I think so too. Son Kite definetly made best remix of 2000 hands... Worth getting for the original and their remix alone. The rest doesn't really stand out. Quote
Guest [tom jaimz] Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 I quite like the Opsis remix of 2000 hands.. and the Morphem isn't bad.. but the Son Kite rocks over all of them. :-) Quote
Guest russ Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 agreed, the son kite remix takes the cake, it's like your flying back and forth between two artists conception of sound (which is exactly what's happening actually) very trippy, and it makes the dj look damn good! also, i highly encourage you to play Youngel on that sweet sound system of yours at high volumes like suggested above. Son Kite is my favorite group, and that track is one of their masterpieces. unbelievable tribal stomping power. mescalimium is right. it is MONUMENTAL! Quote
Guest ralih Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 yes youngel is the best.. another tune you all should check out is dead crows don't fly by gegga .. amazing stuff there heavy as hell and really trippy.. Quote
