Sennheiser RS / HD series

Hi,

I'd like to buy medium quality headphones (<150$). I read lots of comments on the Sennheiser HD series (570, 590...) on this forum, they seem pretty good.

But I definitely want wireless headphones. So, my question is : would a gear from the Sennheiser RS series (30, 40, 60 ?) be a good choice ? Or is there a better choice to make ?

thx.

Hi !!

Your choice depends of the use too ... do you want to mix with ?

A good headphone needs to have a good sensitive db like 106db ... then you will have a good audio quality ... if you are dj you need to have a flexible headphone . For my mind the last i bought is a Technics (i dont remember the model yet , i will tell you later if you want ) less than 100 euro . The audio quality is really good , its confortable and really flexible :P

See ya !

For home listening actually, that's why I want them wireless : to be able to go from my living room to the kitchen without having to annoy the neighbours' ears too much !

No no no, DON'T go for wireless!!! There is NO wireless headphone today on the market which reproduces sound as accurately as "nomal" phones!! You can find some reviews on good phones (wireless and not) on www.goodcans.com

Personally,I'm gonna go for a pair of AKG 270S when I have the money. Why? Cause these babies have TWO drivers per cup!! And just like a good 2-way speaker will ALWAYS sound better than a 1-way speaker, a good 2-driver cup will ALWAYS sound better than a single driver cup.

I had a pair of wireless headphones from Philips that used infra red. They were completely shit, even moving around the same room was a problem. Perhaps if they use digital wireless comms like the DECT phones or something they might be able to do what you want. There has got to be a loss in quality though.

I would seriously suggest trials in the shop first before you buy or you may get very dissapointed.

i have a pair of sennheiser HD 500s. they are *acceptable* but i wouldn't fully recommend them. you can do better for the money. i haven't researched other phones though because i don't have the money.

one thing i can say is that you should get phones that are comfortable. they should be light, and they should stay on your head by resting on the top, not by clamping on your ears. they should also preferrably touch your actual ear as little as possible, cupping around them instead of pushing on them. pushing down on the ear distorts its natural acoustics and causes fatigue/aching/soreness.

the most comfortable pair of headphones i've ever worn are the bose triports ($150). i have no idea how they compare in terms of precision audio representation.
