Guest psy-fi
ive just started using cubase (sx), learning by reding the manuals...but one thing i cant work out is the synts that come along. what i want to do is to "write" a melody like you can do in reason, matrix. i want to control the synth the same way i can control subtractor with matrix. is this possible and if, how do i operate it?? ///psy-fi
Guest DeeperNETWERK
Just create a midi channel. Open up your VSTi's by pressing F11, set up your midi out to the VSTi you wish to use... put your locators (on the arrange window) to the length you want your "part" to be (Control + left click will set your left locator, Alt + left click will set your right locator), double click on it and have fun. This is the way your supposed to record midi, reason's kinda cheezy and not "real" in this sense.
Guest nick
your gonna want to assign the knobs on a soft synth (say reaktor) to a midi controller in cubase - erm....i think you do this by right clicking on the knob / parameter and in the box that pops up there should be a controller assign thingy - select a number, then go back to cubase and in to your 'part' (deeper netwerk explained) by double clicking on it, the section at the bottom of this window is the controller thingy bit. select the controller that corresponds with the number that you assign your knob to in reaktor and you can adjust the parameter level through time, just as you would with reason's subtractor. not all synths are controllable though - but yeah, i recommend reaktor, or the fm7.
